To think this is a bit rubbish

So my car windscreen needs replacing. I rang insurance claim line and was put through to the recommended company.
As one would expect and rightly so keyworker repairs/ replacements are taking priority.
So they are unable to give me any indication when the repair will take place but they wanted my excess up front. So it could be days
, weeks etc.
So I have to pay for a repair where I have no timescale.
AIBU to think this is a little off.

Yes that is rubbish - I struggled to get an appointment when mine needed replacing, but at least I had one when I paid.

As annoying as it is though, I would pay because at least you are in the system.

Dh actually said I should have refused to pay but I had no choice really as I still need my car for shopping and medical needs. Dh doesn’t drive and is shielding.

Yes I’ve noticed that all sorts of companies are quite understandably struggling for staff to carry out work. Except they always seem to have staff who can take money off you, funny that Hmm
