I'm a nervy bee and thought it would be fun to watch with you all!

No tabbymumz, not in Wales we can’t. Can only start exercise from home. No changes to lockdown rules in Wales except that garden centres and recycling centres will be open.

I don’t agree with the no driving thing but those are the rules.

1forsorrow · 10/05/2020 21:45

Yes I have members of my family who need clarification , but they appreciate you can’t cover every eventuality in one short statement Maybe it would have been a good idea if he hadn't mentioned it on Wednesday, hadn't said anything today and actually waited until tomorrow when the whole thing will be revealed and discussed in parliament. Would have been far easier and clearer.

Utterlydespairing · 10/05/2020 21:48

Mumsnet never disappoints. A lot of posters are thick as pig shit, obviously.

Violetparis · 10/05/2020 21:49

If we can meet one person and stay 2 metres away, does it have to be the same person every time or could you meet a different person on another day ?

Peppafrig · 10/05/2020 21:50

@Utterlydespairing is that why you spend time here? As you fit in so well.

1forsorrow · 10/05/2020 21:51

@spongedog Actually i cried. My poor mum - 85 years old - has been self-isolating for weeks - always fit and active. Now months more. The pressure of keeping these lovely oldies going, not just with food, but with entertainment, interest etc just got to me. I think many will give up and die - not from CV19 but from the withdrawal of their life. Yes I think you're right. My husband is in his 70s and disabled, he isn't even alone as I'm here but today he suddenly said, "We might as well be dead." He's been fine up to now but I think it has all just suddenly hit him. I'm dreading him going into a deep depression, he did when first disabled and it wasn't easy. I hope your mum will be OK.

Utterlydespairing

No, Johnson appears to be like that, and he is deliberately obfuscating. The message is not clear at all for many people because of that.

But he is not to be criticised. He survived CoronaV and has a new baby and is a delightfully adorable PM.

PorpentiaScamander · 10/05/2020 21:52

Reporter on BBC News said Year 10 pupils may go back to school but more for a check up with a teacher about progress, rather than actual teaching. Surely if that's all that is going to happen it could be done by telephone or video link for most pupils.

I hope so. Otherwise DS1 will have to catch 2 buses across town for a progress meeting. Then catch 2 buses home. A video call would be far easier!

maresydoats · 10/05/2020 21:55

The current Westminster Government are not covering themselves in glory at all.

The lack of precision in their communication is appalling.

But they will blame it on us eventually, and Dominic Cummings will get his herd immunity theory anyway.

Violetparis · 10/05/2020 21:55

Porpentia hopefully we will find out more tomorrow about Year 10 pupils.

VerticalHorizon · 10/05/2020 21:55

A lot of posters are thick as pig shit, obviously

Some don't have the best educations, some don't have English as a first language, and yes, some are more intelligent than others.

Why not use your intelligence to help others out who might not understand.

And of course, some might be brighter still who are foreseeing issues that you can't.

Why post something like this though? It just doesn't serve any real purpose. Give folks a break!

BubblyBarbara · 10/05/2020 21:55

Look I'm in my 60s but seriously even if this is for an entire year, can't anyone see beyond a year of their life? "We might as well be dead" .. well maybe if you think you won't make it to 2021, but nearly all of us will!

TabbyMumz · 10/05/2020 21:58

"No changes to lockdown rules in Wales except that garden centres and recycling centres will be open."
That's not true you can go out more often now, for exercise, not just once. I was sort of wrong about driving, you can drive to exercise if you have a disability or for health reasons, you need to. (which covers a lot of people). You can also drive for shopping, so if that's not local, you could exercise there. There was no rule that you have to go to your nearest supermarket.

chomalungma · 10/05/2020 21:59

Piers Morgan
@piersmorgan
I can drive 100s of miles to sunbathe alongside complete strangers on a beach, maintaining 2m distance - but not see my parents? This is ridiculous.

He has a point there.

TabbyMumz · 10/05/2020 22:00

And now garden centres are open, you could drive to one of those that isnt local and have a walk in that area too!!

TwentyViginti · 10/05/2020 22:01

@BubblyBarbara I'm in my 60s too, and totally agree with you!

changemynamechangemynamewhen · 10/05/2020 22:01

To everyone saying nurseries were not mentioned (they were...) mine has just issued a statement saying the department of education has said they should expect to receive more children from June 1st

NotABeliever · 10/05/2020 22:03

Am I right in understanding that the earliest children at primary school in years other than YR, YR 1 and YR 6 may return to school is after 1st July if everything goes well?

1forsorrow · 10/05/2020 22:03

Piers Morgan @piersmorgan**

The scary thing is that I find myself saying that more and more often. It's come to something that a virus can make you think that about Piers Morgan.

GrimmsFairytales · 10/05/2020 22:04

To everyone saying nurseries were not mentioned (they were...)

They were? I and several other on the thread obviously missed it, a time check would help, so I can clarify what was said.

TabbyMumz · 10/05/2020 22:05

Nurseries were nit mentioned. I heard him say years 1 and 6.

Oysterbabe · 10/05/2020 22:07

I don't think they were. It's the one thing I was really listening out for.

1forsorrow · 10/05/2020 22:07

Look I'm in my 60s but seriously even if this is for an entire year, can't anyone see beyond a year of their life? "We might as well be dead" .. well maybe if you think you won't make it to 2021, but nearly all of us will! Are you really so lacking in imagination that you can't understand that people can having feelings different to yours? Yes my husband said that, he lives in constant pain, due to an injury on duty protecting people like you. Life isn't easy, he isn't able to do things you take for granted, a distraction like seeing GC can make a day bearable for him. So carry on in your self satisfied little bubble and judge others.

VerticalHorizon · 10/05/2020 22:09

No mention of Nurseries.
They might be second guessing what's to come, but he didn't mention it in his address.

VerticalHorizon · 10/05/2020 22:10

Am I right in understanding that the earliest children at primary school in years other than YR, YR 1 and YR 6 may return to school is after 1st July if everything goes well?

I didn't think any date was mentioned for those years
