My husband put a playlist on and the song "Sweet Caroline" on.

It reminded me of a few years ago when I was with my lovely grandma. She said that a few days before the song "Sweet Caroline" came on the radio and she loved that song, and then she thought "if Bruce Forsyth can dance at his age then so can I" so she got up and danced round her living room, but then she felt a bit faint and had to sit down.

She died suddenly a couple of years ago and I miss her so much. But I'm also glad that she remained herself right until the end and didn't lose her dignity, which she was terribly afraid of. Going quickly was what she wanted. I'm glad I only have good memories of her.

Do you have a song that brings back vivid memories of someone like this?

"beautiful" by Christina Aguilera. My girlfriend used to sing it to me all the time. She hung herself just over 17 years ago. They even played it at her funeral. It still wells me up. It was only a short term relationship and from her side, I don't think it was that serious - but I truly loved her.

And "rose of sharyn" by killswitch engage. Brings back a thousand memories of amazing times with one of my best friends who loved that song. He too hung himself around a decade ago. The words "I mourn for those, who never knew you" just resonate with me and every time I hear that bloody song there's such a profound mix of joy and seering heartache.

Both remind me of my dad. He would sing both these songs at every family gathering.

Footloose, played at my lovely lovely Dads funeral because he liked the film and he was generally a happy person and fun to be around. I’m sorry for the losses of pp Brew

Loads of songs for my older parents and aunts and uncles as they all had their signature songs at family parties. Anything from Danny Boy to Stand by your man and blanket on the ground type songs.

A couple for ex boyfriends from my youth.

A couple of funeral songs, one Comfortably Numb which is particularly poignant.

You'll Never Walk Alone is simply the best song on the planet. I'm so sorry that your daughter's life was taken so brutally @ParkheadParadise and I will include her and you in my thoughts when I sing along to it Flowers

'Baggy Trousers' by Madness reminds me of my late Dad dancing in his kitchen. He passed away at the age of 57 and I had it played at the end of his funeral. Everyone laughed and it was very fitting.

Sorry, its not as highbrow as other suggestions! He was a practical joker right to the end of his life.

Sex bomb by tom jones. I had a boyfriend at uni who jumped out of bed and danced in his boxers.
