rant about school parking

have to rant about this......

today in the pouring rain I start to reverse into the best street parking for the school - what luck to be close to the gates as I'm 9 months preg with 4 kids to get to school (one is aged 1 and wont walk plus there are lots of steps so pushchair impossible).

But the car behind wont let me back in - it also tries to get into the parking!! The other mum beeps at me and refuses to let me back up!! So I get out of my car to ask her to move.

Just at that moment a police officer appears, listens, the other car zooms off and the police woman guides me into the parking. I take the number plate of the other mums car and report her agressive behaviour to the police.

rant over - school parking is just so awful sometimes. Can't understand how other mums can be so awful.

made me feel better!!!

I always park properly at school - don't block crossings, don't block pavements or no parking indications - unlike many others.

What do you want us to say?
You got the place in the pouring rain? You were prepared to tell her to move? Sounds like an equally matched stand-off, and you won - be happy, be pleased...(and i really hope the police are doing something a bit more useful than starting an investigation into a little tussle over a parking space!!)

Anyway, hopefully your rant has made you feel much better, and it will all be easier when you arrive at pick-up time

i have special dispensation to drive right into the school car park at one school. it doesnt half piss off some people when they see me sailing in, while they are struggling to find a spot, heh

Not sure the other mum was being unreasonable, tbh. You drove past (she probably didn't realise you were about to reverse when she started to enter the parking space - and also she wouldn't have been able to see that you were 9m pregnant. Perhaps that's why she drove off when you got out - she could see your situation and decided to let you have the space.

freckle she knew what she was doing! She was just trying to push in. She only drove of when the police came up to her.

I don't have a problem with school parking because I have a card which allows me into the staff carpark, but only because i have 2 disabled kids. I love being able to park there when no-one else is allowed lol

maisym - she was a rude and horrid BEAST and I hope she had to park bloody miles away and that she got muddy water all over her new shoes and was late for collecting her child who was sobbing at the school gate and that the police catch her and Tell Her Off!

Sorry. Hope it is easier tomorrow. Road rage - or at least road extreme Irriataion ruins my morning sometimes. i was wondering whether I should stop driving this morning because i can't bear people who tear down the empty 'right turn only' lane and then push in at the front of the long long queue for 'left turn and ahead' It makes me want to kill them and smash the front of my little punto into their - ahem - other type-of-car-and-van bumpers!

Tghink the other mum was just being mean not moving for you, regardless of if pregnannt. Many people overshoot a car parking space so they can reverse in. Bet she knew exactly what she was doing.

I doubt the police will do anything though - not really much they can do TBH. Her seeing thr police whilst she was doing it might make her think twice again though.

Thanks everyone - I told some other mums about my morning experience when I went to collect this afternoon. General outrage from them. It was unusal that a police officer just appeared like that!! plus saw a rainbow on the way home
