I've just seen one close up in my back passage and they're actually rather beautiful and elegant.

😂

PiggyPlumPie · 08/05/2020 11:12

I really don't know what to say to that! Grin

GreyGardens88 · 08/05/2020 11:13

Is this the first time you've seen a pigeon?

iklboo · 08/05/2020 11:16

Evidently Pigeon Town

To think pigeons are treated unfairly?
Hedgehog44 · 08/05/2020 11:17

I like them. DH tells me they are vermin but as I have pet rats I am evidently a vermin fan. I like squirrels too GrinGrin

Thighmageddon · 08/05/2020 11:17

Up your back passage?

But yes, I do love pigeons.

Windyatthebeach · 08/05/2020 11:17

You need urgent medical care if you have a pigeon up your back passage....

DontStandSoCloseToMe · 08/05/2020 11:18

Which kind? The scrawny, flea infested urban rats of the sky or nice plump wood pigeons? We have the latter , but where we used to live the former there's a definite difference, neither is comparable to the evil seagulls we have now though.
In a separate note if you've got pigeons up in your back passage you might want that looked at. I hear GPs are doing video consultations

Hwyrynos · 08/05/2020 11:20

I love it when pigeons come in my back passage too OP!

Shithole90210 · 08/05/2020 11:22

I mean the alley way behind the house.

Lockheart · 08/05/2020 11:22

Do you mean wood pigeons or rock doves?

Wood pigeons are the big fat ones with the white collars you see in the countryside, rock doves are the ones which congregate en masse in cities. Their natural habitat is cliffs, hence why they (like peregrines) do so well in areas with lots of buildings.

LockedInMadness · 08/05/2020 11:23

I love Rock Doves, to give them their proper name. Not sure I'd want one up my back passage though.

Keepyourginup · 08/05/2020 11:24

They are disgusting. Especially when people feed/encourage them when you are in a cafe or eating outside abroad. Makes me feel sick when they are walking all over the tables

Shithole90210 · 08/05/2020 11:25

I don't know what kind of pigeon. I didn't know there are different sorts. It was grey and yes quite fat tbh.

We have a garden full of woodies (and at the moment, their appallingly made nests!). I adore them. Nothing as soothing as a woodie's call.

Shithole90210 · 08/05/2020 11:27

It was a wood pigeon. I've just looked up the RSPB.

My cat likes pigeons 🙈

IFancyANamechange · 08/05/2020 11:28

Best post of the week!

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 08/05/2020 11:28

Love them all.

We have a very chilled one that comes in our garden. Oft to be found having Mexican standoffs with the dog over food. Pidge wins.

Lockheart · 08/05/2020 11:34

Wood pigeons are lovely. There was a young one which followed my mum around the garden when I was small. Very sociable thing.

Rock doves are also lovely, although sadly not generally well thought of. Their success and global range is directly attributable to humans, and yet we sit there and complain about them.

AndMyHairWillShineLikeTheSea · 08/05/2020 11:34

Ooohhhhh eeerrr back passage Grin

ALovelyBitOfSquirrel · 08/05/2020 11:35

YANBU at all. I have lots of birds that come to our feeding stations and the Pigeons are lovely.

They are disgusting. Especially when people feed/encourage them when you are in a cafe or eating outside abroad. Makes me feel sick when they are walking all over the tables

Grin so dramatic

Dita73 · 08/05/2020 11:37

I love pigeons! We get loads in our garden. I call them all Keith

Lockheart · 08/05/2020 11:39

@Dita73 our name for all wood pigeons is Fat Brian. Not really sure how that came about. All squirrels are Steves too.

ducksback · 08/05/2020 11:41

Keith! Loving Fat Brian too.
