To ask where the busy hospitals are?

Anecdotally, friends and family from different parts of the country say their hospitals are really quiet, often with fewer than 10 Covid patients. They are mostly places near the coast (South coast, Wales and the North West). Are the hospitals busy in your general area?

Not thinking of going to hospital, I’m just curious!

My local hospital in the south of england has 5 covid wards which are or have been at or near full capacity plus changing the use of the paediatric intensive care unit in to another adult intensive care unit. The paediatric intensive care has been moved to another part of the hospital

Not here (north west) despite being told by the media our area is worse than London Hmm very quiet and has been for a couple of weeks. We're starting a "recovery plan" as of this week. Getting more patients in for routine appointments etc. Obviously not vulnerable ones.

www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-daily-data-for-scotland/

In Scotland the above link tells you how many Covid patients are in hospital and how many are in intensive care. Looking at today’s data, last night was busy for Glasgow, Edinburgh, & Lanarkshire . But given relative population Fife, Dundee & Aberdeen are also pretty busy.

I only know Aberdeen , and it suggests 10% of all beds are Covid - that covers all disciplines from maternity thru cancer, geriatrics, hospice etc.
It’s probably 3 or 4 regular wards, but may require extra staffing.
Don’t know if that helps.

So our two local hospitals (south west), were very quiet a couple of weeks ago at the “peak” yeah two busyish Covid wards, otherwise both hospitals pretty much empty! Now they are definitely busier but not with Covid, just all the normal general medical/ elderly care stuff that they usually have. It just all started drifting back in.

Our local hospitals are empty and the new nightingale hospital is yet to receive any patients

I was actually really surprised reading this. Only 1200 people hospital and 86 in intensive care in a population of 6 million?

If lockdown isn't eased somewhat over the weekend then surely the argument needs to be made that this is a drastic over-reaction.

@Dreamersandwishers I wish there was a page like that for England.

Any more? How about people in cities? Seems things in London are calming down as Nightingale hospital on standby?

There are very few people in the non covid wards. It's a small percentage of the NHS having to work hard in the covid wards but many of those aren't full either. People also get turned away as not ill enough
