Blue Bloody Ribands

My husband was going shopping this morning so I asked if he could get a pack of chocolate bars (we get some every week) He asked which ones so I said, Oh whatevers on offer. It's sometimes Boosts, sometimes Toffee Crisps, just get whatever's there.
He comes home 40 minutes later with a multipack of Blue Fucking Ribands. Actually proud of himself. Ok, I thought, breathing deeply, he's got them for himself, he will have of course picked up the chocolate bars I asked him to buy. Nope. Just a pack of 16 or so Blue Ribands. AIBU that Blue Ribands are ghastly and have a stupid name to boot?

Could have been worse. Could have returned with wagon wheels...

Lordfrontpaw · 07/05/2020 17:10

They are nasty aren’t they. Remember when you were a kid and they were the size of your head?

BlueJava · 07/05/2020 17:13

YANBU. DP went shopping the other day and I asked for some nice bisuits - he brought back cheap own brand garibalis! I was like wtf are you up to?! He was all pleased with himself. I feel your pain Blue Ribands are not what you want for a fix!

Lordfrontpaw · 07/05/2020 17:17

I hate fly cemetery biscuits. Yuk.

TheVanguardSix · 07/05/2020 17:17

I love a Blue Riband! They’re totally underrated. You need a Twix or a Club or a Penguin to crush that chocolate bar urge. Blue Riband is what you eat when you’re in the Tunnocks caramel bar place (my favourite!).

safariboot · 07/05/2020 17:21

YANBU.

Another to say they're alright, but they're not a chocolate bar, they're a chocolate biscuit.

Ohtherewearethen · 07/05/2020 17:23

@Spied - oh my God, wagon wheels! Yak. That would be unforgivable. As would the previously mentoned fig rolls.

What is the difference between a ribbon and a riband?

Ohtherewearethen · 07/05/2020 17:25

@BlueJava - what the hell was he thinking? That would be my last choice I think, even including blue bloody ribands and fig rolls. I can't understand what went through his mind at the time?

Send them here, I love them!

zen1 · 07/05/2020 17:26

Blue ribbons are yum. (And they’re also on offer at the moment in lots of places, so maybe that’s why they ‘appealed’ to your DH!)

zen1 · 07/05/2020 17:27

*Ribands

ellesworth · 07/05/2020 17:28

Yanbu. Blue Ribands are the bottom tier of chocolate biscuits.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/05/2020 17:37

Lime 'Jaffa' Cakes would have me levering up the loose patio slabs .

Blue Riband are like corrugated cardboard with chocolate (or chocolate flavoured coating most likely ) that you could use in a physics exam to measure how many microns thick it is .

Shabby .
Time Outs would've done .

Thisismytimetoshine · 07/05/2020 17:37

Lime Jaffa Cakes??

AbsentmindedWoman · 07/05/2020 17:37

Oh now I really want a Blue Riband and a cup of tea Grin

Saucery · 07/05/2020 17:44

League of Lunchbox Biscuits

  1. Trio
  2. Orange Club
  3. Toffee Club
  4. Raisin Club
. . . . . . . . . . . . . 1,247. Blue Riband. Sad
ZingyLime · 07/05/2020 17:47

We've all developed raging hunger for Pink Panther wafers since finding a random packet at the back of a cupboard on about Day 5. Now we are going through about 4 packs a week. Bloody luvverly.
Glad no-one remembers they exist, more stock for us.

speakout · 07/05/2020 17:48

I ike them- and only 98 calories, compared to 250 in a Boost bar, so I can eat twice as many and still feel virteous.

altiara · 07/05/2020 17:54

Never seen a toffee club in my life!

I would class them as lunchbox chocolate bars rather than chocolate bars that you were talking about. I quite like them as they’re wafery.

Saucery · 07/05/2020 18:00

I’m doubting myself now, altiara. I thought Clubs came in toffee, mint, raisin and orange. I’ll have to go on a trip down Memory Lane (which were definitely cakes).

ElectricTonight · 07/05/2020 18:01

I love them but they are wafer bars not chocolate bars! Id be fuming 😂

covidcougher · 07/05/2020 18:01

LTB 😉

Crystal87 · 07/05/2020 18:04

They aren't something I'd buy but they are ok as a biscuit. They don't cut it as a chocolate bar though. Talking of chocolate biscuit bars, Echo bars were the best but I've not seen them got years.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 07/05/2020 18:05

Fig rolls are a health food with all that dried fruit, surely!

I have to hold my hands up and say I would eat a Blue Riband over a Kit Kat, lion bar or toffee crisp any day! Completely love them!

The did coffee ones for a while and they were even more immense!!
