Blue Bloody Ribands

My husband was going shopping this morning so I asked if he could get a pack of chocolate bars (we get some every week) He asked which ones so I said, Oh whatevers on offer. It's sometimes Boosts, sometimes Toffee Crisps, just get whatever's there.
He comes home 40 minutes later with a multipack of Blue Fucking Ribands. Actually proud of himself. Ok, I thought, breathing deeply, he's got them for himself, he will have of course picked up the chocolate bars I asked him to buy. Nope. Just a pack of 16 or so Blue Ribands. AIBU that Blue Ribands are ghastly and have a stupid name to boot?

They are lovely and we buy them every.

However, if I was expecting an actual chocolate bar like a Boost and got a Blue Riband I'd be extremely disappointed.

Squirrelblanket · 07/05/2020 13:49

*every week

BuffaloCauliflower · 07/05/2020 13:50

Yeh not ok. Clubs would be have been alright though.

mamansnet · 07/05/2020 13:50

Eat two for every toffee crisp you would have consumed and it won't be as bad!

SerenDippitty · 07/05/2020 13:50

We like Tunnocks but can’t get any for love nor money round here.

Sparklfairy · 07/05/2020 13:51

I havent voted as I love them but haven't had one for years... But they're not a chocolate bar! They're a biscuit to dunk in strong black coffee Grin

iMatter · 07/05/2020 13:51

Agreed OP

They are not chocolate bars. They are biscuits.

LoisLittsLover · 07/05/2020 13:52

Blue ribbands are nice as a chocolate biscuit but not as a bar of chocolate

Sparklfairy · 07/05/2020 13:52

@mamansnet only two!?!

IncrediblySadToo · 07/05/2020 13:54

😋 they'd do me.

I'm diabetic (diet controlled) & 'not allowed' anything 'nice'🙄

But if I was expecting a nars or something and got Blue riband I'd be very annoyed!

What was he thinking??? That's a biscuit not a chocolate bar surely?!

Tinuviel · 07/05/2020 13:55

YABU - I used to have them at my grandma's house - she always had a tin of Blue Ribands and Kit-Kats as well as a tonne of cakes and pies baked every Saturday without fail. And it was all washed down with full sugar Ribena in water, lemonade or milk! She was amazing!

Lucked · 07/05/2020 13:57

SerenDippity Tunnocks closed their factory for lockdown at the end of March so probably why there is a supply problem.

Yanbu. A chocolate biscuit and a chocolate bar are not the same. Not even in the same area on the supermarket shelf. And yeah blue ribands are a bit shit.

Sillysop92 · 07/05/2020 14:10

I’d pop out and get some chocolate just for yourself.

Windyatthebeach · 07/05/2020 14:12

So would you go so far as to say you have got the blue riband blues???
Grin

Unevenbeard · 07/05/2020 14:12

I had a blue riband this morning for the first time in years, it was horrible and not as I remembered

Mmsnet101 · 07/05/2020 14:15

I feel your pain, my DP done the exact same thing to me last week!

I have to say though, he was excited as he remembered them being great from childhood and hasn't had one soon. He admitted it was a mistake after having one. Nice and all but nothing to get excited over and definitely not a replacement for proper chocolate!

MouthBreathingRage · 07/05/2020 14:17

Firstly they're biscuits, so he didn't even get a chocolate bar. Secondly, like most things over the years, they've become super naff, I used to love them in my lunchbox though.

So, no you're not until in my view.

happymummy12345 · 07/05/2020 14:21

YABU as they are lovely. They repeat on me though.

georgialondon · 07/05/2020 14:22

It would piss me off too

WatcherintheRye · 07/05/2020 14:26

I love Blue Ribands, but they're not chocolate bars - how disappointing, op. I can understand you having a go at the name, in your frustration and anger, but Kit-Kat and Penguin aren't exactly sensible, if you think about it Grin

Thelnebriati · 07/05/2020 14:36

Blimey, I thought he must have bought Snowballs.

grumpygiraffe · 07/05/2020 14:54

YANBU. They are an awful bland apology for a snack. You might as well crumble some Flakes over a few sheets of tissue paper and eat that.

LoseLooseLucy · 07/05/2020 14:56

I like them, but more as a biscuit than a chocolate bar.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 07/05/2020 14:56

I think they are very underated like tunnocks caramel bars.

Devlesko · 07/05/2020 14:57

YABU, he got some biscuits, not choc bars.
They'll make you fat anyway Grin
