To ask how much you are spending on food during lockdown

Not really an aibu but posting here for traffic.

How much are you spending on food during lockdown? Family of four here! Have an online shop coming tomorrow and I’ve spent £120. Could probably spend more if it wasn’t for the 80 item limit. Before lockdown was probably spending £80-90.

I spent around £80 on a large shop just over a week ago but found it wasn’t nearly enough food to last until this shop so had to top up!

I could try and get it down but we got to eat. The kids are eating everything, my partner needs to take food to work as well as meals, snacks, toiletries etc.

Please tell me I’m not the only one?

Also has anyone noticed Tesco prices going up recently? I’m a regular Tesco shopper. Only have a large Tesco or Morrison’s in the area and nearly always use Tesco!

Thinking of changing to shopping at Asda when this is all over!

About £120 a week. Which is what it was pre-lockdown. Some food is slightly more expensive, but we are also making savings by not buying certain foods (e.g. bits for packed lunches, less convenience type food as I don't have days where there is only a 10 minute window with everyone in the house etc.).

We are spending so so much. Mainly on booze. Also the bread we are going through! It's a realisation that we spend a lot on work sandwich meal deals and go to the pub way more than we think (our recycling has doubled with bottles and cans).

So I just did some rudimentary maths by working out our spending over the past few weeks. About £90 on groceries (I'll include bleach etc in that) and another £90 on alcohol. We do like a drink but we also tend to drink premium wine (approx £12 a bottle) and spirits (approx £40 for a bottle of gin or whisky).

We spent £170 yesterday for about two weeks. Four children, two adults.

My weekly bill is around the same, £75 for a family of two adults and two kids (13+15). Before lockdown the kids and DH took a packed lunch, now all meals are eaten at here, DH is WFH. I enjoy cooking and can make a meal out of a few leftovers - nothing gets wasted. I mostly shop at Lidl and rarely buy processed food. I make my own pizza, cakes, soups, coleslaw.

2 adults. Usual shopping bill is about 60 quid. Since going to online shopping its jumped to about 80.

We're shielding so don't have any other option but having never used supermarket delivery before all this I have to say, I absolutely hate it!

The fresh produce usually comes up tiny, bread going out of date the day after the delivery comes, stuff missing, stuff substituted.

Can't wait to hit the supermarket aisles again!!!
