To ask for your 3rd house lucky stories

We’ve just pulled out of our second attempt at buying a house by the sea due to subsidence. First was down valued by the mortgage company. The impending move was the one thing getting me through lock down. Can’t even house search as barely anything on and can’t view. Gaaaaaa. Please can I have you tales of house hunting joy when you thought all was lost?

The house I'm in now is a case of 3rd time lucky.

We had an offer accepted on our 1st choice. Our buyer lost their buyer and eventually pulled out so we ended up losing that house.

The 2nd house pulled out about a week before we were going to exchange. The bastards put their house back on the market a few months later at a higher price.

The 3rd one went smoothly and overall was the one that suited us best. It all worked out in the end.

Can’t help with positive stories but we’ve also lost two houses and are still waiting for another but I’m glad we didn’t leap into a mega mortgage now. So you’re not alone x

Yes @LaPampa, a part of me is glad that we will be offering on the next place post covid rather than pre. But still...the seaaaaa

The house we are in now is one we viewed, fell in love with and missed out on over 15 years ago.

During the purchase this time around it was sold and we thought we'd lost it yet again.

Luckily for us that sale fell through, by then we were in a position with buyer for ours to offer on this.

We only put ours on the market for this house.

All in all it took 7 months from seeing it come on the market to moving in.

Not me but my work colleague had 2 sales fall through because the banks refused the mortgage as they said the house wasn't worth the value it was up for.

3rd house & everything went through & they were in in 12 weeks. Also said they were glad the 1st 2 gel though as the 3rd house ticked more boxes.

Me! I'm in my third time lucky house!

First house we were outbid. They actually came back to us several weeks later as the higher offer had fallen through (we were in rented so ready to proceed) but we'd moved on by then. Eventually went for lower than we'd offered.

Second house sold by older couple, moving to be nearer daughter. Purchase was going swimmingly until one day, after a weekend at their daughter's, they very suddenly pulled out. They didn't sell for another few years, also went for lower than we'd offered.

Third house offered and everything went incredibly smoothly. Ended up exchanging two months before we completed as suited all parties. SO glad the others fell through, this house suits us much better.
