hi everyone hope your all well !! I have had an email today to return to work next week it is shop with small work area ,My worry is my son has a floppy larynx which has suffered with since birth (very noisy and had a few issues along the way ) he had phenomena about 3 months ago (hes now 8 months) and really knocked him for six he was struggling to breath not feeding really sleepy etc and several hospital trips to check air ways etc , they have now asked me to come back to work and im very worried about catching covid 19 and passing onto my son especially ( i have 5 children 8 and under ) ,i know there are key workers with no choice and im very grateful for all the work they are doing but surely opening a large chain fast food outlet is not the most sensible of ideas at the moment , please no nasty comments i am just a mum who is worried and looking for a little advice on what to do or am i just worrying to much and over thinking everything X

Have you spoken to them.? Do they know about your sons health ? Are they offering any protection for staff ?

BlueSuffragette · 05/05/2020 18:26

Sorry OP about you poorly son. I can see why you are feeling stressed about going back to work. Can you explain to work about your fear and see if not all staff need to return whether you could remain furloughed? If not then ask about what they have done to keep you safe. They must have done a risk assessment so they should be able to explain it to you. If you dont think it's good enough then you could question it or talk you union rep if you have one. Tough times OP. Good luck. Flowers

Not good enough
I would push them to put in writing what they are providing
Keep a paper trail

Yes keep a paper trail.
Not good enough to not acknowledge your emails concerning your sons safety yet they are emailing you your schedule.
Please try and make sure all communication is via email or text so there is proof of what they say.

Hmm, I'm guessing is macdonalds and if that's the case then surely there's loads of other staff that can do it as not many stores are opening so lots of other start with no work. Go in sick with stress if not, it's not exactly lying

lanthanum · 05/05/2020 21:18

Might be worth asking your GP whether they think your son should be shielded, and hence you too (since you can hardly keep your distance from an eight month old).

magzali95 · 05/05/2020 22:39
