Anyone else making a 'COVID memory box'?

Willowmartha1 · 04/05/2020 21:46

No me neither but I saw a post on Facebook today from a lady asking for advice about what else she can add to her COVID memory box !! Personally I want to forget the whole damn horror once it's over. Anyone else ?

OP posts:

My kids have been making a Covid diary each to go in their memory boxes. We didn't get a Boris letter, but DS's Granny has promised DS10 he can have it for his box.

It's not any different to the fact that I have a few war trinkets of my Nana's.

With lipstick kiss marks

Angel2702 · 04/05/2020 22:07

Yes definitely it will be an important part of history. The war wasn’t a nice memory for the majority but I’m grateful for the newspapers, letters, photos, diaries my family kept so we know what it was like both from a family history and social history perspective.

stickerqueen · 04/05/2020 22:08

no memory box but will be keeping the letter from Boris no doubt future generations will learn about this in history

cardibach · 04/05/2020 22:09

Boris’ letter went in the bin unread. Irresponsible, thoughtless rubbish, making post men go to every house and post potential virus through everybody’s door.

Nat6999 · 04/05/2020 22:09

We didn't even open our letter from Boris for fear he had personally licked each one. Lol

YourHandInMyHand · 04/05/2020 22:10

My first thought was most of us will come out of this grieving for someone. Not really something I want to make a memory box for.

AndMyHairWillShineLikeTheSea · 04/05/2020 22:11

Boris's letter will be online somewhere or you could take a picture of it, seems a bit odd to put the actual letter in a box.

Who said they were putting the letter in a box ?

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 04/05/2020 22:11

A positive sample

A sad rainbow picture

A pot and wooden spoon

A CD by Vera Lynn

A lock of Boris’ hair

Rishi’s smile

Dominic’s shadow

Sparklingbrook · 04/05/2020 22:12

Who said they were putting the letter in a box ? The OP said the lady on FB was looking for ideas for a memory box.

RickOShay · 04/05/2020 22:13

And Gove’s balls

LilacTree1 · 04/05/2020 22:14

I wonder if memory box lady will have newspaper clippings of suicides.

EatDessertFirst · 04/05/2020 22:14

Fuck no. The sooner this is over, the sooner I can forget it and get our lives back.

Its only the hashtag idiots that would want to remember this shit. Same ones making those tacky clay handprint things #blessed #enforcedfamilytime#lockdown

Winterwoollies · 04/05/2020 22:15

@RickOShay I think Sarah Vine keeps those in her attic. Along with her portrait.

Sparklingbrook · 04/05/2020 22:15

You could ask the supermarket if you could have all of their '2 metres apart' signage and stick that in it.

Confusedasusual78 · 04/05/2020 22:19

‘A signed photo of Chris Whitty’ brilliant 😂

God no, I want to put all this as far out of my memory as I possibly can.

Wannabegreenfingers · 04/05/2020 22:20

Error No. Letter from Boris went in the bin. 6 million that could of been spent on something far better ......

LynetteScavo · 04/05/2020 22:22

I've kept the pointless letter form Boris. Usually I'd have just binned something like that, but it's once in a lifetime time thing.

I can't imagine what else I would put in the box. A face mask? An empty bottle of hand gel?

Manzana · 04/05/2020 22:23

Boris sent a letter? Not to us.

anxietrist · 04/05/2020 22:25

Memory box is a bit OTT but I am keeping the letter from boris and the rainbows from the windows to show the kids when they're older

Sparklingbrook · 04/05/2020 22:27

www.redbubble.com/shop/covid+19+mugs

You could get a mug as a souvenir?

PicaK · 04/05/2020 22:28

Not doing a memory box. But I've taken photos of things that reminded me of photos of the domestic impact of ww2 in history text books.
So photos of queuing, photos of the hurriedly put up signs in shop windows, the supermarket trolleys with the sanitiser station next to them, the one in the park gate saying closed, the view of the empty motorway etc.
I kept the Boris letter but also some of the "it never happened" things - like the Raring2Go magazine for ideas for April, May and June activities.

Weedsnseeds1 · 04/05/2020 22:28

I have three strains of wild yeast that I cultivated due to lack of commercial yeast.
Hoping to keep them going.
Maybe I can sell them in the future as heritage Covid19 sourdough starters Grin
