I know I'm very unreasonable posting this already but my head just isn't working!

If six people are playing a game where two people compete at a time what is the fairest way to find the winner? Do we start with three teams of two then eliminate the weakest three before moving on or do we all play each player in turn then eliminate a certain number (weakest one/two...)

Does this even make sense Hmm

If everyone plays everyone else with A point for a win & none for a loss, would that give you a winner?

SkelingtonArgument · 04/05/2020 18:18

Is there any need to declare a winner? I’d just enjoy playing the game.

Coldhandscoldheart · 04/05/2020 18:18

I sympathise tho, my brain nearly fell out trying to get that far?
Otherwise does it need to be rounds? And knock people out until you get one winner?

scousema34 · 04/05/2020 18:19

I'm hoping to stretch it out for a bit so could do that then move on every round with one person gone?
Honestly I don't know what I'm going to do when I have to go back to real life my brain is mush.

If you want to stretch it out - do it like the online esports.
Everyone play everyone - so each person plays five games - max 5 points if you win all 5. You can do this twice if you want to make it last longer - max of 10 points.
Then tiebreakers if necessary to decide the top position (or other ties in the ranking of you want as well). These can be a best of three .
That's not very clear is it!

Fluffyunicorns · 04/05/2020 18:27

Oh sorry - is it 2 a side? Some complicated thing where each person plays with each other person against every other possible combination of players??!!
Lots of games then X

Sickandscared · 04/05/2020 18:31

I would get everyone to play everyone and give a point for each win. Or will that take too long? Can people play simultaneously?

Otherwise you could have knockout rounds. Two players start, the loser is knocked out. Next player challenges the winner. The loser is knocked out and so on

Yep, I like FluffyUnicorns' suggestion.

Everybody plays everybody, which gives you 15 games.

If it's tennis or similar you could switch ends too, so 30 games.

Then points and run it like a league. If people tie on points do a playoff for the position.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 04/05/2020 18:52

If you eliminate one at a time, and re-run the league, your games per round will be:

15, 10, 6, 3, 1
