This is really stupid isn’t it

I’m biting my tongue here...
A friend of mine has sent me some pictures this morning. Yesterday she went and bought a dog, found the puppy online (gumtree of course) on Saturday when she was bored and browsing. And picked it up Sunday, except the breeder was “so kind and met her half way” so she’d never met the dog or the breeder and didn’t meet mum.
She has never owned a dog before, and is also expecting her first baby in the first week of June...
Aibu to be a bit annoyed that people are still SO irresponsible when it comes to getting pets when there is SO much good advice out there?Sad

That is the most stupid thing I have ever heard. I doubt if she has pet insurance, she will need it

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 04/05/2020 12:53

Yes it’s irresponsible.

Breeders shouldn’t sell at the moment imo, all these bored people wanting a pet. What happens when it’s not a cute puppy anymore? Or they have to return to work?

BovaryX · 04/05/2020 12:57

I find it hard to understand why people are so keen to fund people on Gumtree selling animals. Sorry, but I think your friend is a blithering idiot. I wonder how long it will be before she discovers she can't cope with a puppy?

Futurenostalgia · 04/05/2020 12:58

What a stupid time to get a dog (first baby and Covid.)

2bazookas · 04/05/2020 13:14

Yes, it's really really stupid.

Any guess what kind of dog breed it's supposed to be?

It’s a small fluffy thing. God knows. Looks tiny. Sad

Yes, it's really stupid and your friend giving money to help fund a puppy farmer is not just stupid but irresponsible and enabling and funding animal cruelty.

It doubt it'll be long before the poor little thing is back on gumtree, that's if it doesn't get very ill and die first, as so many puppy farmed puppies do.

This sort of complete irresponsibility makes me more than a 'bit' annoyed tbh.

NeutralJanet · 04/05/2020 13:26

That dog will be back on gumtree within days of the baby arriving, if not before. Last thing I'd want to do at 36+ weeks pregnant is try to house train a puppy and keep having to get down on the floor to clean its piss and shit. She is a moron.

Yanbu. Everyone claims to be responsible but puppy farms and rescues have never been so busy.
