To think this woman just embarrassed herself

Just back from a dog-walk. My neighbourhood is very quiet, virtually no cars on the road. A woman comes towards me on a bike, on the pavement, I stand to the side but she brushes my elbow on her way past. She cycles on about 20-30 yards, stops cycling and yells, "FUCKING CUNT!" at me, then wheels her bike into her house. Presumably her neighbours will have heard her. Class. Sorry, just had to vent as it kind of upset me. I know people are having a tough time but there's no need to shout abuse at people in the street.

Some people are just nuts!

HarlanWillYouStopNamingNuts · 04/05/2020 15:30

It was a weird thing to do, Flask, you're right. We live in weird times and it's definitely affecting people.

That's why I walk with a stick. I jump back startled and it goes between the spokes.

mrsrhodgilbert · 04/05/2020 15:35

I’ve just had a lady, a little older than me so early sixties perhaps, in full Lycra and helmet freewheeling down a hill on the pavement directly at me and dh. The road was empty, dh wanted to move and I muttered furiously that he shouldn’t. She scraped by us almost in the hedge, but didn’t acknowledge us at all. I may have made a comment and she did ride onto the road behind us. I just couldn’t believe it happened, gave me something to grumble about though! There’s a lot of it about here and the roads are still very quiet.

GreyGardens88 · 04/05/2020 16:08

Loads more cycling on the pavements round here too, well it's always been bad but worse now. It's not just the usual types either, it's clearly middle class middle aged people that should know better. It got so bad at one point the police came out and started issuing fines, it got better after that but back to normal now x

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 04/05/2020 16:16

As a GM of mine would have said, as common as muck.
People who behave like this often actively enjoy a row, IMO, so ignoring/treating with the contempt they deserve, is the best policy.

ANoiseAnnoys · 04/05/2020 16:19

After the initial shock I always feel a bit sorry for people like this tbh. Imagine going through life being so nasty and angry? Hope she doesn’t have kids.

Macncheeseballs · 04/05/2020 16:20

Bloody cyclists eh? Always yelling cunt at the top of their lungs

Exactly! I expect there's more to it than how OP has described it.

HarlanWillYouStopNamingNuts · 04/05/2020 16:29

Nope, it was as described.

This Twitter story about road rage & comeuppance is a delight twitter.com/bonesnorah/status/1253706327840509952?s=21

We had a similar encounter with a woman on a bike the other day. We had stopped to pick up dog poo and she rode along the pavement very close to us.
Wish I had left the poo there on the pavement for her to ride through now!
Told her that adults are supposed to cycle on the road and she just ignored me but did go into a corner house close by.
There were no cars on the road at the time!

EmeraldShamrock · 04/05/2020 16:41

That's why I walk with a stick. I jump back startled and it goes between the spokes 😂 I assume you're joking. 🤣

purpleheathers · 04/05/2020 16:44

@NoMorePoliticsPlease If she is as foul as that I dobt if she is remotely embarrassed. Just go up to her door and take a photo of the door number

What would that achieve?

foxychox · 04/05/2020 17:24

This is ages ago but a cyclist once shouted "cunt" at me for walking into the road to get into my car - I'd looked carefully before stepping out but it was a dark country road and he had no lights on. In the words of Mr Motivator, I think we all know who the cunt was, then and now Grin
So yes, I associate this word particularly with cyclists!

Pinkginhelps · 04/05/2020 17:49

Maybe she called out ..."You viking Canut"?

I shouldn't let it bother you although better to offload on here than have an embarrassing altercation on the street with her.

As someone else has said, thank the stars she isn't your neighbour.

CoraPirbright · 04/05/2020 20:03

As you know her address, surely the dog poo bag through the letter box would be the most satisfactory outcome?

GabsAlot · 04/05/2020 22:37

what a twat so not alot of people are out she thinks she can ride on the pavment?

Titsywoo · 04/05/2020 22:46

What a cow! I hate it when adults cycle on the pavements. A man who was cycling once shouted at me and my son to "get out of the fucking way" on a narrow bit of pavement. I told him off and he got off his bike and squared up to me (was a big bloke). Some people are dicks.

YetiAnotherNameChange · 04/05/2020 23:18

Sorry that happened, OP, but it could be worse- you could be her!
What a bitch.

finkitover · 05/05/2020 11:34

Wow, no that's horrible OP. Thank the stars you don't have to see her regularly. Hope your next human encounter restores your faith in the species Thanks
