AIBU or is DH?

Posting here for traffic and also so I can use the voting feature.

Today I started making a scrapbook for DD. It’s going to have pictures of her the day she was born and photos from every subsequent birth day.

I was really pleased with how the first page started out but I felt it was a bit plain so I decided to draw some little flower doodles around the bottom. Just to make it more interesting. DH thinks the before looked much better.

YABU - it looked better without the flowers
YANBU - it looks better with the flowers

I can always take the page out and start again.

I like the flowers but they don’t look right with the writing , could you do them just along the bottom or along the bottom and round the sides but without encroaching on the name . Alternatively try with the flowers and writing in different colours that are more complimentary for the writing to be over the doodles IYSWIM . It does look a bit plain in the first picture .

Both are nice but I think the flowers make it look a bit busy.

I think both look great, but the flowers are lovely, so I think you should keep them.

Wow did you draw that all free hand? That looks so good. I do think it would look better if the flower pattern didn't go under the writing though, or were different colours - basically what floral said.

I’d have flowers as a smaller border that way you still have them but doesn’t cover the name.

Tbh it looks great as it is in the flower version and I'd only change it if I was being very picky (and had your skills).

I prefer the first in terms of the style but like the idea of the flowers.

Please please don't stress the first page. You are doing a wonderful thing....just keep going.

It took me ages as I’m not naturally very crafty. I bought adhesive paper and printed off the “hello world” sign, then just stuck it on. Then I typed DD’s name in a font generator and picked my favourite. I wrote it all in pencil a few times before going over in pen. I drew the flowers in pencil first too and thought it would look great going behind the name, like a background.

It took me ages so I’m dreading starting again. I am rubbish at knowing how things will look until i try them so taking this on is a big challenge for me. I’m a bit of a perfectionist and have a fear of failure which puts me off trying things like this normally but I’m trying to overcome it in lockdown 🤞🏼

It's just a matter of preference...neither if you are BU.

I just don't like things looking too busy.

I think the flowers are out of kilter with the style, particularly the flowers at the top, and make it all too busy.
