Dog Poo- Pick It Up!

Pooppicker · 03/05/2020 22:33

Anyone else with dogs noticed that there is more dog poo on fields at the moment? People just letting their dogs crap without picking it up. It was rare for me to see this pre lockdown, where I take my dog, but suddenly it’s everywhere.

Is it being unreasonable to expect this to be a given when you own a dog? I just don’t get why it’s changed.

Yep. We have a grassy square outside our house at the end of our cul de sac. People from other streets are bringing their dogs for a break at the mo. Which is fine. But not clearing up. I cleaned up after my own dog and about 3 others yesterday. It's gross.

I was going to post something similar the other day. I went for a walk to our local reservoir as we live within walking distance, with my OH and DD in her pram. We had to dodge lots more dog mess than normal, I said to OH, have you noticed since lockdown there's been more s*t than normal. It's disgusting, I feel like hanging bags from the trees going down with little notes saying "for god sake, pick up your dogs s*t" x

HaveAtEm · 03/05/2020 22:45

Agreed...it's awful 😱 But even worse than 'left poo', is 'abandoned poo in a bag', which is NEVER going to biodegrade. At least the 'left poo', as disgusting as it is, will eventually just disappear...by whatever natural/weather-related/animal/disintegration method happens 🤢

Pick up your dog shit people...and BIN IT!! don't chuck it in a bloody hedge you lazy bastards!! Nappy sacks/poo bags just fester...for years!! Full of your dog's shit!! 🤢🤬

Yes, have noticed this over the last few weeks. What's up? I was wondering if different family members from usual are now taking dogs for walks (kids? husbands?) who can't be arsed to clean up after their pets?

PestymcPestFace · 03/05/2020 22:52

We've all noticed the same. Me, DH, DD and DS we share dog walks and I have been doing dog walking for shielded people. There is dog shit everywhere. It is not our normal topic of converstion.

Where were all these errant dog poos being done before lockdown?

babybythesea · 03/05/2020 23:11

Yes! We are in a very rural, tiny village. There is a track near us that we have always used as a decent dog walk but not every day normally. Now, because we can walk to it and there are guaranteed no sheep or cows on it, we use it every day. As does everyone else. And the dog shit on it is unbelievable. Used to be one if we were unlucky. Today we passed around a dozen heaps left behind. Just grim.
Even worse was one of my kids stepped in some. I know picking up after your dog isn’t pleasant but it comes with the territory.

Pooppicker · 03/05/2020 23:14

I can only think it must be people who don’t usually walk their dogs and let them crap
In the garden or whatever or older people who can’t get the usual dog walker in and who just won’t bend down. Kids play ok these fields and I hate the thought or so me of them falling in it.

Weirdly much less poo in the (urban, normally poo-riddled) park here, and the streets too. I assumed that because there are more people about all day taking their exercise, it’s harder to let your dog off the lead and then studiously walk on/look the other way while it craps.

onelostsoulswimminginafishbowl · 03/05/2020 23:18

Must be a worldwide phenomenon! I'm in a small town in NZ and there is dog crap EVERYWHERE at the moment 🤮 it is never usually like this.

pigsDOfly · 03/05/2020 23:26

Yes, noticed this too.

Someone on our local face book page posted about this the other day too.

We're surrounded by fields and lots more people are coming here to walk their dogs so I'm assuming it's them that are leaving the mess because under normal circumstances it's usually pretty clear.

Must admit Pooppicker, haven't seen a great many more 'older' people refusing to bend and pick up their dog's poo, but nice bit of ageism there.

EnglishRain · 03/05/2020 23:28

I said to DH earlier than I really hope all the new walkers on the fields bugger off soon Sad

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 03/05/2020 23:34

I saw this, on one of my walks, recently Grin

Yes there's always been loads on our school run but it's been so much worse lately. I usually report it online and the council clean it but I can't keep up now. Just today we watched a bloke let his dog on a long leash crap in a field near our house, then he just walked away. I called to him to pick up the poo and he instantly got aggressive with me, shouting back 'he's only sniffing, fuck off,' I said 'it's just there, it's literally just done it, you've got bags, use them.' So he got even angrier, then it was 'come over here and show me' with his arms out wide like he was squaring up to me, yelling on etc etc then just stared as I tried to get the kids away. Horrible man, and all the dog walkers are awful letting their pets make a mess. So entitled and lazy.
