To think people trollling zoom is weird?

My fitness class was shut down due to someone shouting obscenities earlier this afternoon. Who are these people? Same trolls as frequent here do you think? I wonder what they felt they achieved. Stopping a wobbly 40 something from doing her BLT class...pitiful

Trolls generally are arseholes. Mean wind up merchants, practical jokers, anti social wankers. They always existed but got their kicks in other ways. Prank phone calls. Chain letters and the like.

Arseholes ruining other people's fun.

What?! Who was shoutuing? Surely its someone from the class joined? Cant everyone be muted by admin?
Anyway there is a one and million class to join that arent live or ones were audience cant comment.

The class providers need to use the waiting room part of zoom, and individually accept each person into the class to prevent this from happening. Am not a Zoom user, but this has been discussed countless times on dance teaching FB groups, and this is the general response to those who get trolls in their class.

@abcduck

No it's not "surely" someone from the class - Zoom is well known for being extremely hackable. All you need is the public link to the class.

What @dancinfeet said, plus check that screen sharing is NOT allowed for guests.

Much worse things than shouted obscenities have been witnessed on some Zoom calls - think illegal acts involving a child. 😞

Yes there have been some awful things shared on Zoom. My mum refuses to use it for teaching now as another class was interrupted and she thinks it’s a huge Safeguarding nightmare waiting to happen.

It’s good though if there are measures to limit the amount of interference.

We use a different app for work and you can mute participants and kick them off calls, as well as controlling who can come on in the first place!
