To be terrified I’ve got an infection?

moranish · 03/05/2020 10:47

Shamelessly posting here for traffic as I’ve worked myself into a bit of a state over this and need advise ASAP. Judge me all you want, I know I’ve been incredibly fucking stupid and I am absolutely mortified but I don’t know what to do.

Was seeing someone casually before the lockdown started, and being the daft cow that I am we had unprotected sex twice. Yesterday I began having green discharge coming out constantly (I’d say the same amount of liquid as I’d get mid-period) and it’s really swollen down there to the point I can’t walk properly as it kills. The discharge also looks like pus to me, so I’m terrified of a serious infection or sepsis. Other than the possibility I’ve caught something, I also suspect I had a very early miscarriage last month, it was around the time my period would have been but it was not a normal period at all, huge clots, intense pain that made me vomit, back agony etc but I assumed it had all passed and never got checked out. I’m concerned some of that retained and is infected? My period came normally this month and I’d just come to the end of it when this other stuff started.

The swelling, pain and constant discharge is making it impossible for me to function properly. I used the Lloyd’s Online Doctor service and filled in the form describing my symptoms and they told me to visit a GP urgently and said their services couldn’t help.

Except I can’t do that at the moment and also all of the sexual health clinics near me are shut. I’m very worried about this and worried there’s an infection further up in my internal organs as I keep getting random abdominal stabby pains and I feel a bit nauseous. What can I do? I definitely don’t want to risk my future fertility or my life by ignoring this.

Scratch that I’ve just realised it’s Sunday. Go to a&e.

Inkpaperstars · 03/05/2020 11:26

Yes, go to A and E and get the help you need. Don't be mortified, no one will judge you. Yes, it was a mistake but these things happen. What you describe needs urgent attention. Good luck.

Haggisfish · 03/05/2020 11:28

A and e

JustHavinABreak · 03/05/2020 11:28

Is there any chance at all that you've left a tampon in there from your period last month? If so could be TSS. Either way, you need to get yourself to A & E now

Vanhi · 03/05/2020 11:32

A&E. I used to call handle for an OOH service and honestly with those symptoms although a GP would have called you back urgently, they'd just have bundled you off to A&E.

summerfruitssquash · 03/05/2020 11:33

I agree, coronavirus is not a reason to keep out of a and e for urgent things, this sounds urgent.

caramara · 03/05/2020 11:33

OP I am really laid back about health stuff and have to have a limb hanging off before I go to the GP but even I would be getting that checked out immediately. Like you I probably wouldn't have done anything about the possible early miscarriage, and maybe even the current swelling/ pain you've got but the green discharge tips the balance for me. That is definitely outside the realms of 'it'll clear up on its own' and requires hospital treatment.

Please go and get it checked out today.

Bertucci · 03/05/2020 11:35

You've got severe symptoms.

You'd be insane not to go to A&E

Buzzfrightyears · 03/05/2020 11:35

Go to a&e. They keep suspected cv cases separately, wash/gel your hands if you have to touch a surface. Your symptoms are alarming to me (I’m a nurse)

Aridane · 03/05/2020 11:35

A&E

timeforawine · 03/05/2020 11:37

A&E ASAP!

moranish · 03/05/2020 11:39

Washed my hands and checked for an old tampon, nothing. I did attempt to insert a tampon yesterday but only kept it in for a few minutes as the swelling inside the passage was forcing it out anyways. Since then I’ve just been wearing loose PJ bottoms as any friction is unbearable.

I have tried to use the 111 online service but it is down. I have informed a good friend about it just in case I suddenly deteriorate at home, so she knows to check on me.

My life doesn’t feel in immediate danger but I’m certain there’s an infection and I am worried about sepsis etc. I am going to ring 111 now but am expecting a queue.

A&E 100%.
But I fail to see why you are having unprotected sex when you have stated you were seeing them 'casually' and you've recently believe you have miscarried. I'm really sorry you're going through this but maybe be a bit more sensible Flowers

moranish · 03/05/2020 11:43

lau1998

I know I’ve been an idiot and lesson learnt. The miscarriage would have been a result of this relationship and I haven’t had sex since 2 weeks before it happened. It was exclusive or so I believe but since the lockdown has fizzled out.

I personally would skip 111 and go to A&E with symptoms that severe.

I wouldn't be trying to wear a tampon when you have symptoms like this either.

I am glad you have told a friend thought so they can check in. I hope you get seen and treated soon Thanks

MaeDanvers · 03/05/2020 11:44

Please go to A&E.

speakout · 03/05/2020 11:45

moranish

Go to A&E. You may be risking your fertility and worse.

ArgumentativeAardvaark · 03/05/2020 11:45

Why are you pissing about with 111 and not going to A&E?

bloodyhellsbellsx · 03/05/2020 11:45

Wow the swelling and pain isn’t normal with a standard STI. You need to see someone ASAP. Ring 111 and they’ll either send you to an out of hours GP or A&E.

Beebeeboo2 · 03/05/2020 11:46

It sounds like pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) which can sometimes be treated with a combination of two oral antibiotics, but if left for too long needs admission for IV antibiotics. And yes it can lead to sepsis.
Don’t waste your time with 111, go to A&E, or at the very least call your GP for a telephone consult.

Trebolla · 03/05/2020 11:46

Stop trying to get through to 111 and just go to A&E. Hope you're ok, OP.

LAU1998 It sounds like the unprotected sex led to the possible miscarriage and now the OP is in this condition. Not entirely sure why you thought being snarky was appropriate anyway. Maybe be a bit more sensible Flowers

Bertucci · 03/05/2020 11:46

111 will tell you to go to A&E.

Go to A&E and stop titting about.

CaptainBlunderpants · 03/05/2020 11:47

Just go and get seen. You are ignoring this.

DatingDickheads · 03/05/2020 11:47

You need to get seen ASAP. Do you have any sores where it’s swollen?

EdersonsSmileyTattoo · 03/05/2020 11:49

Please, please go to A&E OP.

You really need to be checked over ASAP!
