AIBU to leave the room?

DH (54), DD (13) and DS (7) all playing a computer game together.

They (well, mainly the kids) shout, scream and argue (as well as laughing & joking mind).

The noise drives me insane, so I leave the room.

They say I don’t have to leave, I know that.

They say they will keep the noise down, but they don’t.

So why am I made to feel in the wrong for leaving? It’s like I’ve offended them in some way 😂.

So, AIBU for leaving the room and preserving what’s left of my sanity, should they all understand they are driving me insane? Or should I suck it up for ‘faaaamily’ time? 😬

Hardly family time if they are all playing a game and you are doing something else. As long as you are not flouncing off in a huff do what you like.

No, leave. Pretend you are doing something else. It would drive me insane as well.

Next time you are baking or reading or painting your nails insist the whole family stays because family time.

I go up to our bedroom, nice candle, bottle glass of wine, lovely music and a good book. Leave them to it and chill out.

DH and DS have been playing FIFA loudly for most of the afternoon. They're off now and TBF they've both been working really hard this week so I'm not that bothered. Like yours they shout and scream at the TV.

I've been upstairs Netfixing, Mumsnetting and crocheting, bliss.

YADNBU to leave the room... I would do the same. My kids aren't old enough for computer games yet, and it's just something that doesn't interest me so in later years if that's what they want to do fine, but I wont be watching / listening to them. I'll definitely be doing a bit of what @MrsDoylesTeaBags and @iklboo have been doing today!!!
