So I’ve realised I’ve been very negative lately and I know a lot of people only go on AIBU and reading through all the threads can get a bit overwhelming. So I wanted to post something happy.

One of the small things that makes me happy is an unexpected pocket in a dress. I mean, I may never use that pocket for anything other than my hands (phone falls out etc) but it still gives me so much glee.

I thought we can share this happiness around either by posting links/pictures of our pocket dresses or, if I am being unreasonable, sharing what other small things make you happy.

@Dahlietta I agree 100%, and all the "but I have a bag" brigade are not helping one bit.
Have your effing bags, but let me have a choice.
Rant over - as you were Grin.

ThirtyAndASmidgen · 02/05/2020 13:04

Pockets aren’t that hard to insert once you get the hang of it. If you’ve got a sewing machine (and even if you don’t), you could perhaps have a practice go with an old dress or skirt. If you put the pockets in the side seams, you don’t need matching fabric for the pockets.

ClientQ · 02/05/2020 13:05

Oh I use a handbag. But if I'm at work I can use the dress pockets for a tampon or tissue. Then when I go out for my break it has my entry fob for doors and a bottle of e liquid Grin rather than me trying to balance drink, phone, e cig..

Doingtheboxerbeat · 02/05/2020 13:11

Ooh I just thought of another reason why it's so unfair - 1. Being asked to carry someone else's shit because you are a bag carrying donkey obviously & 2. A lot of call centres don't allow you to have your phone on you so you can't check your messages real quick during your toilet break, and you know for a fact that trouser wearers are doing this.
Oh, just me then Wink.

ShinyMe · 02/05/2020 13:16

Those Popsy dresses look quite nice, but they don't look as though they've been designed with busty, short women in mind! It doesn't help that they're all shown with a tall, slender model. But they almost all have quite a lot going on round the waist. I think they'd be quite unflattering on me.

I recommend Fatface for pockets - I love the Simone dress, I have 5 of them now.

SimpleKindofLife · 02/05/2020 14:57

Fake pockets should be banned!

80sMum · 02/05/2020 15:02

I flatly refuse to wear trousers that don't have pockets! I ordered 14 pairs of different black trousers from debenhams a few months ago, because they never say in the description whether or not they have pockets. Only two had pockets, one of which didn't fit, so 13 pairs got returned.

If they would say in the description that they have/don't have pockets it would save a lot of bother at both ends!

FudgeBrownie2019 · 02/05/2020 15:04

Gap's summer dresses always have pockets. I have about twenty of them bought over the years that I've lived in every summer because the pockets give me joy.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 02/05/2020 15:11

Pockets are essential Grin
I sew pockets in everything & two of my kids have a running competition over who has the most pockets.
I am loath to give up my winter jacket as it has excellent huge pockets.

The only time my husband doesn’t have a good pocket is when he wears his kilt....with which he wears his sporran Hmm

bettybyebye · 02/05/2020 15:12

Also came on to recommend Poppy! Smile I have about 4 or 5 of their dresses and I love them! I am quite busty and they fit me perfectly

ChateauMyself · 02/05/2020 17:26

Love pockets, except breast pockets on shirts/blouses.

It’s like a sign saying, “boobs here, step right up”.

Ghostlyglow · 02/05/2020 17:37

Hell Bunny dresses have pockets Smile

Katinski · 02/05/2020 17:39

I bought a lovely skirt once.German. Fully lined and swingy.Absolutely loved that summer skrt. Brought it out every summer. 3 years in, discovered it had pockets.Grin

grannycake · 02/05/2020 17:41

i bought a pair of Levis Fit was great but they have something known as ladies pockets - WTF why would we want useless pockets

HandfulOfFlowers · 02/05/2020 17:41

Now I love a big pocket in a coat, but never in a skirt or dress. But then again I am a rampant pear shape so anything extra at the sides makes my saddle bags look even bigger 😂

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 02/05/2020 21:51

BiblioX · 02/05/2020 22:29

Popsy!!! They ALL have pockets.

Tell everybody!

springydaff · 02/05/2020 22:43

I sew pockets. Wear mens jeans so I get decent pockets.

I had a gap padded jackets for years and YEARS. Just before I had to chuck it out because it was dead I discovered a ZIPPED pocket I had never seen before 😮

It was a moment.

springydaff · 02/05/2020 22:44

I sew in pockets, sorry.

bobstersmum · 02/05/2020 22:45

All of my kids absolutely love pockets in their clothing. And the things I find in them, well, baffled.

littlewoollypervert · 02/05/2020 22:53

I've screenshotted the Sharon Owens poem, it's fab. May name change to SeditiousPockets if it's not already taken.

UnabashedlyNeurodifferent · 02/05/2020 22:53

I love pockets. I need pockets in everything - fully functional ones too and spacious inside, not ones that can only fit a single card. Plus I need something to do with my hands, pockets just make me less awkward (and actually more confident because I don't feel awkward).

Never thought of adding pockets to clothes as a PP said and it makes so much sense now. No longer going to rule out pocket-less clothes.

catmagnett · 02/05/2020 23:06

I bought a beautiful Seasalt dress... was over the moon when I discovered it had pockets!

And the joy was doubled when I found the secret message sewn just inside - 'You look lovely today'.
