To ask why I can't sleep?

If it continues I will see a GP, although mine has ignored me for weeks on contraception!

I'm struggling to sleep. Go to bed around 10.30, up at 7ish. Previous to corona and wfh was doing maybe 10pm and waking 6.30am so not a massive difference. Last 5 nights I've tossed and turned until at least 2am, 4.30am in the worst case.

I feel absolutely knackered in the morning but ok after that. I don't feel tired going to bed, maybe a bit. My heart feels like it is racing which is why I imagine I don't nod off, but I don't feel stressed during the day? Am I now just anxious about being anxious when trying to sleep? Is there any chance my new vitamin tablets are somehow causing this? I've never had insomnia that lasted more than 2 nights before so this is making me edgy!

I should also say, it usually takes me about half an hour to get to sleep, that's normal.

Not really much use but I have have hard from a couple people who feel they may have had covid of this smptom although it resolved quickly. Weird. I have read something about the virus affecting blood vessels/ worst case heart.. But no really looked into. Try not to worry. I'm sure it will go away. I also get hypertension. Why I can't sleep either.

Look up side affects for your vitamins- you haven't said what they are.

Magnesium helps me.

If you start tossing and turning, reading something light can help distract you and calm you down.

What time do you take your vitamin tablets? Some can disrupt sleep so take them with your breakfast.

I take valerian root tablets and it's changed my life! Natural remedy. Ali get them from brand sleepeasy on amazon

Are you doing enough in the day? Try doing some exercise before bed so that your body is tired.

Pukkatea · 01/05/2020 11:05

I do a lot of exercise so it's not that I have excess energy to expend. Vitamins are perfectil hair skin and nails - not sure why they would be different to my normal multivitamin but I did notice some of the concentrations of B vitamins were very high, so I'm going to skip those today and see (very unscientific experiment!)

When I first read your post I thought you had said you had had the coronavirus. I have acrually wondered if lock down might change people's sleeping patterns. Our body's natural rhythm doesn't follow 24 hours. So without the routine and the same light changes maybe yours is just doing what it likes now
