Help! Eaten yogurt 10 days out of date

nightimebrowser · 30/04/2020 20:36

Didn't realise and I've been eating them for 3 days (individual pots) been feeling fine and they all looked and tasted as normal. Google says it's okay with yogurt 1-2 weeks past use by but I'm still freaking out as I have emetophobia and I'm usually so on it with food dates 😭😭
Sorry I know this isn't an AIBU I just need quick help and reassurance 😂

You will be grand

Slumcat · 30/04/2020 20:38

You’ll be fine I’ve eaten them weeks out of date they taste fine and I’m still going

dementedpixie · 30/04/2020 20:38

You would have tasted if they were off and they would smell bad

NotPayingAttention · 30/04/2020 20:39

Fine fine fine fine fine. If I looks good smells good and tastes good all fine. So many preservatives in these things.

peperethecat · 30/04/2020 20:39

Why do you need help? Yoghurts are good for at least a month past their date.

ofwarren · 30/04/2020 20:40

If it was bad it would have tasted bad.
You will be fine, try not to worry.

daisypond · 30/04/2020 20:41

It’s fine.

BikeRunSki · 30/04/2020 20:41

It’s fine.Off yoghurt smells and tastes it.

Wanderlust21 · 30/04/2020 20:42

That's fine. My mum always eats stuff I've left too long. Yogurts are fine even at 3 weeks out. It would have tasted inedible if it wasnt.

Nottherealslimshady · 30/04/2020 20:42

You can tell a yogurt is bad the second you smell or taste it. You're fine.

Lavenderpurple · 30/04/2020 20:42

Trust me, I eat them a lot further out of date than 10 days and I’m still here.

Branleuse · 30/04/2020 20:42

I had a yoghurt tgis morning that was best before february. It was fine. Yoghurts take ages to go off

CoffeeRevelLove · 30/04/2020 20:43

Yoghurt is gone off milk. I've eaten it months out of date before

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 30/04/2020 20:44

You would know if they were off. You really would

Rumplestrumpet · 30/04/2020 20:44

Yoghurt is only odd if it's fizzing or there's mould on it. You're fine.

Meat and seafood - follow use by dates. Veggies and dairy - it's just a guideline. Trust your nose (that's why it is so close to your mouth!)

Rumplestrumpet · 30/04/2020 20:45

*Off, obvs

DFAMA · 30/04/2020 20:49

If it was going to make you ill it would have done by now

nanbread · 30/04/2020 20:50

Yoghurt is basically mouldy milk anyway, you know that right?

ShinyMe · 30/04/2020 20:51

Yoghurt lasts for Aaages past the date.

amusedbush · 30/04/2020 20:55

Another one who eats yoghurt way past the sell by date. Even milk is usually fine long after it says - I’ve found that Tesco milk is perfectly fine a week after the sell by date. Aldi milk, however, starts to turn the second you pick it up off the shelf 🤢

CaptainCarp · 30/04/2020 20:56

You'll be fine! I always have 3 stages of "testing" to see if something is OK to eat 1) Look 2) Smell 3) Taste.
Also yoghurt is "mature" milk anyway so it doesn't go off when it's not opened for a while usually.

nightimebrowser · 30/04/2020 20:58

Thank you guys, the reassurances really help, I know I'll still be anxious tonight but at least I can read back on these!

Off yoghurt usually tastes ‘fizzy.’ You’ll be fine.

TwinMumSuperHero · 30/04/2020 21:47

Also eat yoghurts in this household up to about a month after the use by. Definitely can tell by the smell if it was gone :)

LaurieMarlow · 30/04/2020 21:48

Lol, I’ve eaten them a month out of date, no problem. The sugar and preservatives work a treat.
