Help! Eaten yogurt 10 days out of date

Didn't realise and I've been eating them for 3 days (individual pots) been feeling fine and they all looked and tasted as normal. Google says it's okay with yogurt 1-2 weeks past use by but I'm still freaking out as I have emetophobia and I'm usually so on it with food dates 😭😭

Off yogurt is fizzy.

My mum, who is the queen of food past it’s date, ate some Philadelphia that was 9 months out of date last week. She’s fine.

Yogurt is one thing that REALLY tells you when it’s not ok! If you were happily eating them there won’t be a problem plus the dates we have on our food are ridiculously conservative

You’ll be fine - especially if they are individual ones.

If the lid wasn’t convex before you opened it and the yogurt didn’t taste fizzy then you will be fine

Wow this thread is an education! I've just chucked out of date yoghurt away..... I'll know I can keep them longer in future.
I hate misleading use by dates! So much waste because of them.

I don’t know how some of you do it, I wish I could. But I see that date & if it’s one day out I’d be gagging the entire time eating it, even if it tasted fine! It’s definitely in your mind.

I ate yogurt today that went off apparently on the 20th, it looked and smelt fine so I just cracked on.

I am religious about meat and fish but everything else I use my own judgement. Seems to work OK.

20th of what? If April, what are you worried about, if February, then hats off to you!

This evening I ate some chutney that was just over 5 years out of code. (Sealed jar found in the back of the cupboard).

It smelled & tasted fine - if I die tomorrow I'll update this board.

I eat yogurts out of day all the time. Weeks out of date! I have no shame and I've never been ill. I'll take peoples out of date yogurts off their hands if they're going to bin them

You will be fine. If the lid has not blown it is generally fine to eat.

Yoghurt is fine weeks and weeks out of date. I do it all the time.

Don’t worry. You are fine! Even if something is off doesn’t always mean you will get sick. I once had a huge gulp of spoiled milk!!! My sister poured me a cup of milk and I took a big drink from the cup and swallowed before quickly realising it had gone sour w chunks and all! I was fine and nothing happened. I also have emetaphobia so understand your pain.

Why are people so hung up on use by dates these days? Use your noses, or a little taste off the end of a spoon or finger. You will KNOW if food is off, it simply doesn't smell or taste right.

I'm in my 50s, I can remember use by dates being introduced. I'm still working on educating my 20-something DC on how to tell if food is OK or not. We managed back in the day when there were no use by dates. They are a food industry invention designed to sell more food, and they have extra shelf life built in.

I frequently eat out of date yoghurt.

I buy goat's milk yoghurt. It comes in a medium sized tub and takes me a long time to finish it so it can be in the fridge for ages before I'll manage to eat it all after I've opened it.

If it looks and tastes okay I'll eat it. If it smells off or is mouldy obviously I throw it away.

I'm the same with eggs and milk. If either those are off it'll be very obvious.

My sister sees sell by dates as a challenge.

Would not eat dairy foods out of date personally, although would depend on which kind- you cant smell or taste bugs or toxins.. by the way I worked in dairy industry on production of yogurts, milk and cheese including safety.. a few days wouldn't bother me, but the point it that the risk increases...
Yogurt is not 'gone off milk' - it is cultured with particular strains.
10 days would be about my limit though.. the chances of illnesses are probably very slim but just don't do it as a rule.

Many kinds of cheese bought in supermarket like brie and stilton need at least extra 2 weeks to be properly yummy imo. My stillton is currently 3 weeks "off". Soooooooo tasty
