I’m worried threads like this will put people off being tested as I know it has,me ! 😭

I'm more worried people are getting false negatives & then going out & spreading it because they think they're ok

I had no idea it was like this! I’d have a blood test over that any day, I gag easily. Will have to be brave if it comes to it.

I don't think this thread should scare people.

It's not pleasant but it is quick. Literally 5 seconds or so and completely bearable.

Injections, cervical smears, having a filling etc are all much worse in my opinion. Not fun but something that you need to do for your health and most people just get on with.

If I was told I needed to go for another test tomorrow I'd go without hesitation or fear.

I was at a big drive through centre for mine. Part of the car park was labelled "recovery area" which alarmed me a bit as we drove in. In the time we were there we saw no one need to go into the recovery area and we certainly didn't need to. Other than needing a tissue to wipe our noses afterwards we were fine to leave straight afterwards.

I had one done on Monday. It was a drive through but they gave you the kits to do yourself. The throat was the worst. Gagging the nose wasn't so bad you had to put it high up until you felt resistance and swab for 10 seconds. Not pleasant but certainly not painful

Yes. And the toddler and husband. Really easy.

On another site I'm on, mostly US users, one guy was urging regular mass testing so everyone could return to work. Someone else replied that they had had a test, and would not be having another without a gun being held to his head. He said it was never going to happen that everyone would have this test regularly.

I've just had mine. My nose is sore but it really wasn't that bad. Please don't let it put you off being tested if you get the opportunity for one.

I swabbed a couple of people last week, they gagged a bit with the throat swab, but the nose was fine, instructions stated to insert 2cms into each nostril and use a circular motion to collect sample.
I’ve also seen a horrendous video online where they practically poke the poor guys brain!
