To hope there is a coronavirus mockumentary following Twenty Twelve and W1A?

Loved Twenty Twelve and W1A. Found myself hoping there'd be a new one after the coronivirus crisis is over - or would it not work/be too sensitive?

Vote:
Yes - you'd like to see it too
No - what a horribly insensitive idea

You want to have a laugh at how government bungling has led to tens of thousands of avoidable deaths?

FoolsLemonTree · 30/04/2020 11:49

Well I suppose I imagine it to be set in a more obscure department, or non-governmental organisation. Not the hardcore side of things.

I'm isolating alone and finding living extremely difficult and hopeless so I guess I've been trying to laugh at silly things.

Yes - you'd like to see it too = YANBU
No - what a horribly insensitive idea = YABU

ravenmum · 30/04/2020 11:54

Nice to laugh at silly things, yes, but then you're not laughing at Coronavirus, are you?

MrsToothyBitch · 30/04/2020 11:58

YABVU. Too many people have lost too much in one form or another and will live with the impact for too long a time for it to be treated as a subject of humour for quite a good long while, sorry.

BenWyatt · 30/04/2020 11:59

I’d love to see another series but not about coronavirus. It’s just not funny!

PurpleDaisies · 30/04/2020 12:02

I think there’s a fair amount of black comedy to be had around lockdown warriors, police arresting people for eating ice creams, presidents recommending people treat themselves for covid using mr muscle etc...
People dying not so much.

tillyteatowel · 30/04/2020 12:03

YABVU. The olympics didn’t kill thousands.

DontTouchTheMoustache · 30/04/2020 12:05

YABU people have died, that's a horrible thing to make fun of

There are literally thousands of silly shows you can stream.

There are comedies about the war.

BirthdayCakes · 30/04/2020 12:19

If The Thick of It people did it, I'd be in!

Yes, it was that that made me think of it...

RedRed9 There are comedies about the war.

Yes. Not the best comparison but something like Dad's Army wasn't about the horrors of the front line but people back at home and the antics they got up to with the situation. I suppose I was thinking along those lines. So if it was eg. set at the BBC like W1A it would be about media types reporting/balls ups/trying to work remotely/etc.

Prepared to accept AIBU though, I didn't intend to upset anyone. Lockdown is doing strange things to the mind...

Agree with @PurpleDaisies

DontTouchTheMoustache · 30/04/2020 15:59

There has been a fair bit of time for people to grieve since the war, people are still going through it. I lost someone on Saturday so please keep your stupid war comparison to yourself its obviously not the same.

applepineapple · 30/04/2020 16:08

Agree @BirthdayCakes GrinGrin

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 30/04/2020 16:12

I loved W1A and 2020!

I think you need to see the thick of it if you havent already.

Likethebattle · 30/04/2020 16:29

Nah too soon! Also it’s very boring with us all just sitting in doors. Watch The Thick of it! Malcolm Tucker calling someone a Human Mooncup is hysterical!

PuppyMonkey · 30/04/2020 16:35

Bit insensitive, especially as we don’t know how it’s even going to pan out yet. Plus, the real thing in terms of the politics etc is farcical enough as it is in many ways.

And in the US, Trump is essentially a living, breathing RL comedy character.
