Covid Commute Options

Seeking opinion…

I’m still working at the moment and I have about 65mile round trip for my commute.

On Fridays we just work for the morning, 8-12

I was thinking I might drive part way, park the car and cycle along the cycle path for the last 15 miles, and then back again at the end of the day.

Gets some exercise in and makes the most of my short day.

Is this ok?

Sounds fine to me, assuming you can easily cycle 15 miles.

Sounds like a decent plan to me, I part cycle(d) my commute (in the days of yore March 2020) and I love cycling and having exercise built into my day.

I assume you can fit your bike in or on your car and it won't take you half an hour to get it in/out/on/off. I only ever cycle from home because I don't have a cycle rack or a big enough car to get it inside.

Do you have to go in though? It seems a big waste going that far for 4 hours. I'd try to work from home and do my cycle ride from home, too. You didn't mention your job, so not sure if you can WFH or not.

@puffinandkoala I've roof rack on the car, so it's not a problem getting the bike about, but i am a little concerned about getting stopped with a bike on the rack. I figured that if i get stopped and it's a problem then i can just carry on with the journey in the car.
I can't work from home and agree it's a pain for 4 hours work. Ordinarily i do an hour extra each day, and don't go ion on Fridays, but we are only working flat hours so it's not an option.
