Obviously just a coincidence (imdefniy into conspiracy) but isn’t it a bit odd that the company studying a new treatment for Coronavirus is the same as the rulers in handmaid’s tale? Don’t you think they’d have changed their name after the negative connotations?

Gilead Pharma was founded in 1987. That was after the Handmaid's Tale was published but it wasn't an immediate huge success or obvious pop culture reference. I doubt the founders had even heard of it.

Yep - Stephen King’s Gunslinger comes from Gilead! Which is a land that had some kind of apocalypse probably involving nuclear war and is now lost. Ominous.

DH pointed it out to me a few weeks ago. Love a good conspiracy theory.

Not a fan of T.H.T. at all, not my thing so until the tv series I had never heard of Gilead except in The Dark Tower series. (now thats an epic read. Smile )
