To be more nervous about a zoom interview than a face to face?

Got a zoom interview for a health research job at 2pm today.

Bricking it because of the zoom bit, I am well prepared and would be feeling confident if I was doing face to face (I know two out of three of the interview panel as I have worked at this hospital before and was invited to apply) but I am worried about sharing a document, tried it last night and it takes everyone off the screen. I am worried that they won’t hear me very well. Worried that the kids will walk in. Worried that I will get flustered if I can’t hear them. Worried that my accent (Yorkshire) and voice will sound odd on the microphone. I would rather do the interview in full PPE and socially distanced. AIBU?

Anyone else had an interview in lockdown?

I have. Was incredibly nervous as there was the added worry of technology working etc. It was actually fine and in a way felt less formal. But the additional stresses of new technology, kids being likely to scream at any minute and an unruly dog didnt help! But it was fine, you know your stuff and that's what they want to hear. It's ok to be nervous but good luck x

DH did yesterday. He was very anxious about the tech so we practised with me downstairs and him upstairs and that helped. Any way you can do that for a few mins with anyone?

It went very well for him, no tech issues, not as weird as he expected (though, a bit weird!) and he was offered the job.

Good luck!

Practice run for the tech, if you can find someone to do it with you.

Do not worry about the kids walking in! Everyone will understand - it’s happened on live TV for Gods sake, and no one minded. It would probably break the ice anyway.

Good luck!

Thanks all. Good to know others have done it!
