Why has everyone embraced video calling for absolutely everything?!

I'm so fed up of it. At work, this time each year, I have a series of meetings. Each person comes to my place of work, one at a time, and we talk about the things we need to.

If, for any reason, they can't come, we do the meeting on the phone. Always done this without any trouble.

So why this year have several of them suggested we do a zoom meeting? It is totally unnecessary, and it just causes me more stress.
Is it just in fashion now, or are there genuine benefits that I'm not seeing?

Aibu to say, stick to the phone!

God knows. Absolutely hate it.

I hate phone calls and would much rather see people. I guess we are all different.

Human touch.

Most people at my work prefer to be able to see each other.

I keep the video off!

Client calls started off video off but are slowly changing as more and more people have their camera on anyway and forget to turn it off.

I don't care as long as it's optional. Just tell them your camera doesn't work.

I quite like seeing my colleagues TBF and would be happy to see some clients but I'm hiding myself Grin

I hate video calls, and anyone who insists on contacting me this way, gets to spend the duration of the call looking at me with a cat filter on my face Grin
