Neighbour’s Booming Garden Voice

My neighbour has a voice louder than Brian Blessed and regularly has ridiculously loud games of football with his children. It’s not that I object to the sound of children playing next door, but it’s his constant deafening shouts of “GREAT KICK!”, (BOOT), C’MON!”, OOOOOOOH!”, “NICE ONE” (BOOT) “GO ON!”, “AAAAAAAAH!”. You can hear him shouting when you’re inside, and when you’re outside, it’s so loud, it’s a struggle to have a conversation . I would expect there to be a bit of self-awareness that other people live around him, and that it’s not the World Cup final? Wondering how long I can bear this? Been an issue pre lockdown, but now it’s more frequent. I fully expect to hear neighbours in their garden, but the shouting and screaming as if he’s at a football
match is excessive perhaps?

Ours can be like this but more with work conversation as he paces round the garden 🙄

We have one family near us like this. They seem lovely, the children are no noisier than any other children but we can hear everything the father says. Including his phone calls. They also have an inflatable bouncy castle which we can hear pumping up and down even inside with the windows closed.

We would never complain because it's hard amusing small children at home all day but it's a bit wearing.

Hmm- I'm a loud voice person to. I'm often tutted at in restaurants and whilst I try to be self aware, my voice just projects.

Try harder, please.

I get what you mean but there are worse things you can be forced to listen to, like fighting neighbours.. ours have several hour long on and off screaming matches, swearing and yelling and their bedroom is about 4 metres from my bedroom window with a fence in between.

I've got one like this. She goes out into her garden to have shouty phone calls every evening. She's 2 doors down but I can hear her at 11pm bellowing about FUCKING MEN and FUCKING BASTARD CRAP TIGHTS and BLOODY SHITTY TESCOS through my closed double glazed windows and over the sound of my music.

It’s horrible! Even in the Summer I keep my windows closed and have an air filter running.
I get a really panicky feeling if I can hear all the loud music, shouting etc when the windows are closed. It’s awful to feel trapped and with no escape from the noise.
I don’t understand why people aren’t a bit more self-aware but at the same time I’m jealous because it means they don’t mind noise as much as I do. I would love to cope better with it but I just can’t.

I can assure you my neighbour does not have hearing difficulties or a voice that just naturally "projects". He is able to speak very quietly to his cannabis dealer.

Hang over the fence critiquing his children’s football skills. He’ll soon stop drawing attention to the fact there is a match in progress Wink
