Why hasn't my amazon cancellation money been put back into my account?

Hello,
Ordered a birthday present on Friday. Within 10 minutes, i realised i accidentally ordered the item twice,
So i cancelled it straight away.
It cost £60 altogether.

It's now Tuesday and no sign of it.

It hasn't come up on my transactions but it's been taken off my available balance.

For example is says
£125
Available balance: £65

So it's obviously the £60 from amazon.
Any idea whether it should have been back in my account by now or is it because of the weekend?

refunds can take anything from 3-10 working days to clear. Regardless of the fact it was ordered and refunded within 10 minutes. The initial payment has still been requested from your bank, so that is knocked off your available balance ( that should take around 3 days to reach Amazon, they do not have the funds straight away ). Your refund then goes through the exact same process, it's removed off Amazon's available balance yet you don't see it for a good few days.

What's inappropriate about it? Who are you to judge?

ilovesooty · 28/04/2020 14:07

And to the OP - I think as stated above it might take a few days to show in your account.

Jolene121 · 28/04/2020 14:07

@Floatyboat YABU getting your nickers in a twist for no reason.

Who died and made you thread monitor? Hmm

Lockheart · 28/04/2020 14:10

Have you tried asking Amazon? I'm not sure anyone on AIBU will know.

Someonesayroadtrip · 28/04/2020 14:10

I didn't think things were taken off until they were dispatched? Could it be something else? Refunds take awhile though and will be working days so probably tomorrow or Thursday?

Tonemeth · 28/04/2020 14:10

Jolene121 it's really annoying when that happens, Very messed up an order I made and the order never placed. However the funds were pending for about a week and couldnt be accessed. Its infuriating! So YANBU but they havent taken the money as such, although they might as well have.

It does take a while in my experience.

FloatyBoat are you so bored in lockdown that you’ve made yourself thread monitor?

Dotty1970 · 28/04/2020 14:13

Laigny · 28/04/2020 14:20

@Jolene121 no probs :-) x @Floatyboat what is the issue? Why is this inappropriate for this forum? Scroll past if you don't like it, seriously, she is only asking for some advice!

notreallybotheredaboutausernam · 28/04/2020 14:21

Did you pay by paypal? If so, the refund will go into your PayPal account.

Tonemeth · 28/04/2020 16:01

Only if the funds came of her balance. Otherwise it goes to the payment source used.

PotholeParadise · 28/04/2020 16:06

I agree with Floatyboat. Where's the AIBU here?

iklboo · 28/04/2020 16:13

We returned an item and they put the money as a 'gift certificate balance' in our Amazon account.

Can someone explain why Floatyboat has deemed this not appropriate and demanding a deletion?

Tonemeth · 28/04/2020 16:29

Because she hasnt phrased it as "aibu to think amazon should have refunded ms by now" floaty is unhappy.

iklboo · 28/04/2020 16:51

Riiiiiiiiight. And Floaty is Chief Inspector of The Thread Police. Naughty OP!
