AIBU to tweet Crown Paints

A few days before lockdown kicked in I ordered £180 worth of paint directly from Crown thinking if we are going to be home I will do something that is productive and that I have wanted to do for months.

They did say it could take up to 10 working days to arrive so I thought fair enough. Well its the 28th April now and nothing.

I emailed about 10 days ago and all I got back was a generic 'we are busier than usual, please be patient'. I emailed again on Sunday and haven't received any replies at all.

They were quick enough to take my money and I personally think I should have my order quicker than a month after paying for it! On April 17th they closed their site to new orders so they aren't getting any new orders in to deal with!

Since I am now being ignored, AIBU to tweet them to ask whats going on? Publicly as it seems thats the only way to get a response.

If they cannot fulfil my order I would rather they say so and give me my money back.

I know we have to be a little more patient in these times and its not exactly essential items but my order in a couple of days before lockdown started!

I'd phone them personally. You'll get an actual person looking at your actual order and seeing what stage it's at, and if anything's gone amiss.

hellhavenofury · 28/04/2020 11:56

@onalongsabbatical From what I can find there doesn't seem to be a contact number to call. Only a 'contact us' page which I have filled out twice! Its bloody annoying!

Had a quick look on the website and they've set up regional hubs for dealing with orders so try giving your nearest one a ring

Why do you need someone to tell you whether to tweet or not? It's a tweet, not storming down to their offices.

JammyGem · 28/04/2020 13:51

@slashlover Because twitter only has a 280 character limit, whereas here the OP can rant to their heart's content Grin

Burpalot · 28/04/2020 15:09

They don't acknowledge or reply to tweets so I wouldn't bother

NurseButtercup · 28/04/2020 15:12

@JammyGem
Your response is Star

I've had this with Sports Direct, ordered over a month ago tracking hasn't moved since then, no customer service phone, filled in online response form many times and they ignore it,

I am going to speak to the credit card company and get them to raise a chargeback to get the money back as I believe if they don't deliver within 28 days they are deemed to have broken the contract.

And in future I will resolve never to order from the unprincipled bastards ever again Angry

Ibizama · 28/04/2020 15:54

They haven't delivered paint I also ordered weeks ago either. Fucking joke

cassgate · 28/04/2020 16:10

I had similar with Dulux. Ordered the paint on lockdown day although it was before the actually announcement. Finally, received today.

NearlyGranny · 28/04/2020 16:18

Good grief, you'd think a paint business would do well in lockdown! I've redecorated two rooms and revamped three pieces of furniture as well us freshening up an old suitcase for storage. I raided the shed for paint we already had, but that's five different sorts of paint. They only need home workers on computers and some warehouse operatives working at safe distances from each other.

FrostyGirl66 · 28/04/2020 16:19

just had a look at their Facebook page, which says the same thing, but one person has commented saying he's been in contact with them and been informed that Crown have cancelled certain orders without notifying them and not refunding. not sure if thats just an isolated incident though.

FrostyGirl66 · 28/04/2020 16:20

someone else has posted a phone number 01254 704951

lockdownbirthdayhelp · 28/04/2020 16:21

A couple of years ago I ordered samples from crown and they took bloody ages to arrive. So they obviously have ongoing issues with deliveries.
