To think I can get ripped in 6 weeks?

DrierThanANunsNasty · 27/04/2020 21:52

Long story short - about 20-30 pounds overweight (depending on whether you trust BMIs or not). I’ve spent the last 3 weeks absolutely smashing exercise like never before, following videos, lifting weights, generally quite high intensity stuff - 5 days on, 2 days of doing yoga as rest days.

Also eating a whole lot better, like half what I’d normally gorge on (mainly ate out of boredom, not hunger), and focusing on clean foods, high protein, etc.

I have 6 weeks left of isolation I reckon (live with someone who is shielding). I want to walk out the front door for the first time looking like a Victoria’s Secret Model. But is it actually possible to get ripped in 6 weeks when you started as a fat slug?

YANBU - smash it, she-hulk
YABU - you’re gonna leave isolation still a fatty

You are 100% doing brilliant
Diet is no. 1 way to lose the weight which sounds like your doing well. Try and look up a bmr calculator to see what your basal metabolic rate is. There's a formula to do it. It shows how many calories you need for your body to stay the same. Takes into account age, activity level, height and weight etc. Eat less calories than this lose weight..
Eat more protein.
Prioritise sleep and recovery after exercise.

Notcontent · 27/04/2020 22:20

Well done - you will feel amazing. I think the key thing is that you have addressed your diet as well as doing exercise.

DrierThanANunsNasty · 27/04/2020 22:21

Lost 6 pounds so far @Poppybeaumydarlinggirl but it’s more the way I feel that’s changed for the better. My stomach is already a lot less bloated and I just feel so much happier for a good few hours after exercising. Such a buzz!

Do it!

I exercise 5 to 6 days a week.
For me doing it early is the best way. It sets you up for the day and even if I don't feel like it, I say to myself that even doing it half heartedly is better than lying in bed.
Choose a form of exercise you enjoy.

lovinglavidaloca · 27/04/2020 22:27

Well done OP! I’ve also been doing the same for the last 3 weeks.

Really enjoying it :)

5lb loss for me so far.

Battysace123 · 27/04/2020 22:31

How do you get the stamina and energy? I am not even overweight, size 8 but want to tone up, I get tired after 5 minutes doing a workout. Makes me so frustrated.

CodenameVillanelle · 27/04/2020 22:38

Batty - pick the time of day carefully, if you're trying to do it in the afternoon switch to morning, some like first thing, others later in the morning. Fuel up properly; have a small meal with protein around an hour before exercising. Choose a workout that challenges you but not so intense that you feel like giving up and if you need to pause it so you can complete the reps/sets more slowly then do it!

PeanutDouglas · 27/04/2020 22:39

Keep it up, you’ll look great !

bd67thSaysReinstateLangCleg · 27/04/2020 22:55

You won't be "ripped" after six weeks but you will be noticeably fitter.

Wynston · 27/04/2020 22:57

I think you will be really pleased with all the effort you have put in.....can you please report back in 6weeks!
Thank you for inspiring me!

ABagOfPopcorn · 27/04/2020 22:59

You can absolutely do it if you're committed and dedicated to a good diet (macros) and good training.

I didn't do it over a six week period but for example I only did 3 days of training and I followed a strict macro diet (roughly 1800 calories) and lost 25lbs over 3 months. So six weeks seems doable to me if you're training hard and follow a good diet.

Juanmorebeer · 27/04/2020 23:25

Oooh can I join? Pls give me step by step? I have 5 weeks not 6 though

ReadyForActionRyderSir · 27/04/2020 23:42

Following for inspiration! I have about 20-30lbs to lose too but am struggling with the kids at home and WFH. Can I ask which YouTube videos you recommend OP?

KaptenKrusty · 28/04/2020 00:06

Yay! Well done !

I’ve been doing loads on the gymondo app!

Started a strength programme today - it’s 9 weeks long - intermediate level!!

Hopefully I can keep it up even when I’m back at work! :)

Orangesandbananas · 28/04/2020 00:11

Well done, you sound amazing!

Got any good free workout recommendations?

Nottherealslimshady · 28/04/2020 00:18

I thi k 6 weeks is pushing it to be ripped. Slimmer yes. Healthy yes. Ripped is a whole new ball game. I'd use the 6 weeks to get confident enough to go to a new gym and get ripped there. You will get to a point where you need weights to further yourself.

You're doing awesome though! I used to be ripped and am currently fat slug Grin

SouthsideOwl · 28/04/2020 00:25

I absolutely love your optimism!!😂😂 I am in the same boat- we can do this!!!!!

Fromthebirdsnest · 28/04/2020 00:29

This is really cool Op making the best out of a shit situation go you ! you smash it and everyone will be mistaking you for Rosie Huntington -Whitely 😘

Battysace123 · 28/04/2020 06:27

@CodenameVillanelle thank you.

ambereeree · 28/04/2020 06:38

Do it OP. If you have a tape measure try to measure your waist thighs chest every month. Or even every two weeks at the start. You'll find that sometimes scales don't give you the best idea if you're losing weights.
If no tape measure-- try the same dress on and you'll see and feel as it fits looser.

MaggieAndHopey · 28/04/2020 06:50

You can definitely lose weight and get stronger in 6 weeks but you likely won't build a lot of muscle in that time. Also depending on your body type, you may not get ab definition without getting to a very low body fat percentage, which for some people takes extremely careful and restrictive dieting.

DrierThanANunsNasty · 28/04/2020 06:53

Morning all!

Woke up feeling a bit shattered but then saw all these positive messages so off to smash my workout Grin To the PPs that are motivated, I’ll come back after with a list of channels and stuff I’ve been using but today I’m doing one on Gabby Allen’s Facebook page (she’s been doing free lives for a couple of weeks but I just watch them back as some of them are quite intense).

Good luck anyone else exercising this morning!

OP, well done.
The exercise will help to tone the fat you have as you decrease your body size.

Food is critical.
Exercise is fantastic.
But to shift the weight, food intake is key.

You sound as if you are absolutely on the right road.

To have a goal like this is fantastic.
Keep goingFlowers
