Reviving his decks for a lockdown hobby

My DH Got his old decks out and had been having a bit of play with them and decided since it’s lockdown he would carry on. However he hasn’t just carried on he has bought all the new bits and now every night all I can hear is thumping beats. Every weekend it’s the same for about 1pm.
It’s driving me insane and have to keep asking him to keep it down.
Thankfully we live in a detached house so neighbours cannot hopefully hear what I can.
It’s like Kevin and Perry have been revived in the house as he hasn’t really touched them since the late 90’s but all of a sudden Its all he wants all he wants to do.
Do t get me wrong back when I was teen I the 90’s I would have loved this but now it’s just driving me crazy

Everyone is allowed a hobby, sadly modern life we seem to forget this. I'd suggest you ask him to limit it to an hour a day sometimes more sometimes less and request he uses headphones, if that's possible.

My oh plays guitar, so I do know how you feel

Headphones

Basilandparsleyandmint · 27/04/2020 18:39

Headphones are to listen to one side - the noise cannot be contained by them. When you are mixing you need them to listen to the other track

Maybe pp meant headphones for you?

Earplugs?

Or yes, agree with poster above that he should limit the time

Your Kevin and Perry reference had me in stitches though OP, sorry! I have the utmost sympathy for you though!!

Sounds great. Open the windows, get some cider in, take an interest and get him to teach you how to DJ (if you can’t already) and ask him to play some music you like. Glasto is cancelled, you might as well have your own home version!!

A hobby is something you do a few times a week. If he’s doing it every day and it’s infringing on your quiet time then that’s selfish and not acceptable. How many hours per day is he doing it? I couldn’t live with that. I hate loud music

MorganKitten · 28/04/2020 00:48

He’s keeping busy and entertained. Maybe chat to him, join in or get earplugs.

Dance?

BabyofMine · 28/04/2020 07:07

I’m usually all for hobbies of any sort, but this would set my nerves on edge, I’d hate the noise.

We have DH’s permanently set up in one of the spare rooms. DH, DS(13) and I can all mix records, DH was a DJ when I met him, he taught me and I taught DS.
