Used item sold as new

I bought a new stand mixer yesterday in Asda. Went to use it today and noticed that the attachments and such seemed a bit grubby. When I lifted the actual mixer out of the box there's a receipt for a refund, done in 2019.

It was full price (£50) and on the shelf next to the other boxes. Aibu to be annoyed? It seems to be working fine but I'm not thrilled that it's being sold as new when it's clearly been used before.

YANBU IIRC They aren't supposed to do this - but it could just be an error.

Just phone the store, explain the situation & say you want to bring that one back & swap it. Ask them to have a new one waiting for you at customer service so you just do a straight exchange with no waiting around.
It will have been sent to the back as a return & someone has accidentally put it back out. They won’t have intentionally sold a used one.

This happened to me...I took it straight back and they refunded me. I want too impressed as had to make an extra trip to return it, but at least I got my money back.

Thanks! I feel a bit uncomfortable with using it for some reason.

Just take it back or call and ask for a refund.

We bought dd a laptop from a top electrical shop and dh went to set it up - a man's details and screen saver pic came up. Could have been much worse imo...
They didn't seem at all bothered!!

Getting a used laptop is scary. Too easy to be accidentally caught up in nasty stuff.

The Asda is a 40 min drive so will ring them first.

Thank you

This also happened with me at Asda but with a hair trimmer full of little hairs.

Take it back next time you go, or ring them and see if they will part refund you if you're happy to keep it. It might work fine but you shouldn't have to clean what should be a shop-new full price item.
Out of interest, if a returned item isn't faulty is it not normally put back out for sale? Obviously it should be checked it's in as new condition first which this clearly wasn't.

I bought a phone from Asda, when I got it home and out of the box there were text messages on it.
Somebody had used it for three days and then taken it back.
