Notbsure on lockdown protocols, but you certainly used to be able to edit your list until the night before

Blondie1984 · 27/04/2020 02:47

Yes you can do that

Newernewist · 27/04/2020 02:48

Thats what im hoping, if i put and pay for the essentials now, and keep adding to the order for a full shop when i know what i need???

OP posts:
Newernewist · 27/04/2020 02:52

When does it charge your card, just before dispatch?

OP posts:
Bananacloud · 27/04/2020 02:52

Yes, you can amend the order 2 days before delivery.

Bananacloud · 27/04/2020 02:52

After you receive your shopping.

Newernewist · 27/04/2020 02:55

So i can create the shop over the next week but hold the slot with a few items and my card, sorry, im v tired and just checked the Asda site on the off chance and saw the slot.

OP posts:
bettybattenburg · 27/04/2020 03:04

Yes, you can do that.

Newernewist · 27/04/2020 03:11

Thank you.
Ive put about £15 of stuff in the shop, added my card details.
When exactly will it take (hold) the money?

OP posts:
biglouis123 · 27/04/2020 03:32

I use Tesco. The money is taken out just before the order is dispatched. I know this because they rang me one morning and said there was a problem with my card. I was able to give another card number. Its probably the same for Asda. With Tesco you can edit the shopping until 11,45 the night before the order is due but I would never leave it that late. With Asda I believe its 2 days but not sure.

waspfig · 27/04/2020 03:44

I think rules have changed since lockdown OP.

You can change your order before delivery but only in the two days before hand. So if Monday delivery, Saturday and Sunday can make amends.

Make sure you have covered the minimum basket spend (not sure what it is for ASDA) otherwise it won't check you out and the slot won't be reserved. Make sure you check out. It will charge you on the day of delivery I believe.

Aberforthsgoat · 27/04/2020 03:49

Asda takes a penny when you check out, I know as I did this the other night. The actual money is taken the day of your delivery after the cut off point where you can't amend.
You can only amend your order two days before delivery

Gingerkittykat · 27/04/2020 03:49

You can edit up until 10 pm the night before delivery, they ask you to only edit once but it is possible to do it more. I would definitely log on the night before to see what is out of stock in your order.

I thought the minimum basket was £40 but maybe I'm wrong. You could use a few expensive items to make the minimum price then replace them with what you need later.

ElevenOhFive · 27/04/2020 03:51

The money is taken once your shopping has been picked in store and is ready for delivery/collection, to allow for unavailability and substitutions. You will probably see a pending £0.01 debit on your card once the order is placed, this is the pre-authorisation for payment. You have until 10pm the night before delivery/collection to make any final amendments. With my first Asda shop a couple of weeks ago I could amend at any point after the order was placed - now it seems Asda has changed this so that you can only amend in the two days before delivery/collection up to the 10pm deadline. Hope that is helpful, the world of supermarket deliveries was a mystery to me too until lockdown!

bushtailadventures · 27/04/2020 04:04

Can I just say, Asda used to always take payment the day of your delivery, but they've been taking it the day before recently. I had a Saturday delivery this weekend and they took the full amount on Friday morning. I think it's so they can open the slot back up if you can't pay.

You can put any amount in to book the slot, it will just show a delivery charge if it's under £40. I always put a few bits in to book the slot then amend it the day before it's due.

Likethebattle · 27/04/2020 12:39

Asda has held £86 but after amending our order when several things went out of stock they are still holding £86 when it should be £74....god knows how long before they adjust it. I try to avoid them unless I’m really stuck.

Imboredinthehouse · 27/04/2020 12:52

Yes, you can amend the order 2 days before delivery

Apart from last Monday when I spent 10 hours endless trying to amend and the site kept crashing and reverting back to my original order so that I got hardly any shopping delivered Angry I’m hoping I can update this week or I won’t have any meat!

Baaaahhhhh · 27/04/2020 12:54

Do they not have a minimum spend of say £50/£60 - most on-line supermarkets you can't check out without having that minimum on order.

TheRoyallingStones · 27/04/2020 13:01

Yes I’ve also found Asda have been taking payment the day before recently, it always used to be on the day.

And I think they’re now allowing amends in the three days before increased from two days.

To amend go to Your Orders and when it’s available, click Amend Order. Everything will go back in to your basket and you can add and remove stuff.

Be aware that it won’t let you check out if anything in your basket is out of stock.

I appreciate it’s too late for you now but I would recommend placing an order that you could live with if that’s what got delivered, so not just the minimum order amount in bottles of vodka. Just because things are constantly changing, they could remove the ability to edit, or more likely adjust the timeframe when you can, or you could forget to edit in time.

CeibaTree · 27/04/2020 13:17

Ocado always seem to take the money the next day after delivery..

SoloMummy · 27/04/2020 13:31

You won't be able to add until 3 days before delivery.

I find that a pain in the arse. But it's supposedly to save traffic.

biglouis123 · 27/04/2020 17:37

If you are going to log in the day before your delivery to amend your order I would do it earlier in the day and not leave it til late in the evening. The Tesco website crashed a few days ago due to pressure of people all logging in at midnight.

Some of these were people who had logged on late on to amend an existing order and were unable to. Other people had managed to get a slot but were unable to check their shopping out because the site was down for several orders.

You want to check back to see if any of the goods you ordered have become unavailable but its important to allow plenty of time in case of these unforeseen crashes.

DysonFury · 28/04/2020 07:59

I'm pretty sure I read 'new rules' this morning saying you can only change orders 3 days in advance now, but I'd check directly with Asda.

Blacksideupanddownagain · 28/04/2020 08:08

Yes the money for what's in your basket is held from your bank account from when you check out now (used to just be 1p).

You can amend your order only in the 3 days before your delivery day, and only up until 10PM (used to be midnight).

We used to put 8 bottles of wine in to hold our order but like another pp says above, we've been sticking in essentials like bread and fruit straight away in case it's hard to edit or the site is down before delivery. The website often works better than the app which crashes a lot in our experience.

Be aware items are moving in and out of stock quite quickly so when you amend your order some things will be out of stock so we try to leave amending until the early evening the day before delivery when it's as accurate as it can be (some things will still be out of stock though when your order comes but hopefully less than 3 or 4)

They are still doing substitute but if it's something I really want like baked beans we put a couple of different brands or a multi pack along with a couple of individual tins in the basket just in case!

whatdoyoudonow · 28/04/2020 08:14

Can I just say, Asda used to always take payment the day of your delivery, but they've been taking it the day before recently.

This.
£140 taken the day before delivery (my basket)
£128 with of items delivered on day
£12 refunded next day to my account.
