Defend the NHS on mumsnet and you’re thread is deleted. Slag it off and the thread stays.
I’ve been posting on mumsnet for nearly 15 years and I’ve never been so disappointed.

which thread ??

Doyoumind · 26/04/2020 20:18

Wasn't it you who had negative thread about the NHS deleted before, OP? And didn't you complain in a similar way last time?

Mintychoc1 · 28/04/2020 08:41

No. I asked a question about what teachers were doing, having read on here that peoples’s partners, who were teachers, were only working one day per fortnight etc. Having experienced virtually zero contact with school for my kids, I asked if anyone else was having the same experience, and if anyone knew what was going on.

The thread was deleted because it was seen as critical of teachers.

I started a thread defending the NHS and that was deleted.

Verdict - complain about teachers and the thread is deleted. Slag off the NHS and the thread stays.

Why not start a thread about something that won’t get deleted then. Maybe about hearing cuckoos or best lockdown entertainment?

RedRed9 · 28/04/2020 08:46

I remember that teacher thread.

Having experienced virtually zero contact with school for my kids, I asked if anyone else was having the same experience
It wasn’t worded like that at all.

If your threads keep getting deleted and you think you’re being misinterpreted then maybe you should think more carefully about how your written message is coming across.

PurpleDaisies · 28/04/2020 08:47

I’m guessing neither of those threads were deleted as soon as they were posted. I’d bet it was the replies that did for them.

Cabinfever10 · 28/04/2020 08:49

And as this is a taat it will also be deleted

saraclara · 28/04/2020 08:52

There have been multiple OPs like yours. Sometimes more than one a day. It was constant, and teachers and parents were responding every time to explain what was happening in schools.

We don't need one a day. It was hugely dispiriting. If you want the answer to your question, search. There be about thirty threads that will give you the answers you're after.

I imagine that MN is now deleting then simply because it got so repetitive. Seriously, each OP was more or less identical to the one before.

RuudGullitOnAShed · 28/04/2020 08:54

I didn’t see your thread about the NHS but your thread about teachers was goady and read as if it intended to antagonise.

saraclara · 28/04/2020 09:06

Teachers may not be in school much, but they are working from home like many people. My daughters and her partner are working full days at home in report writing, redesigning the curriculum and lesson plans into the future to take account of everything that their pupils will have missed, as well as designing providing materials for their pupils to use at home.

If you have a problem with what your school is providing, take it up with them instead of generalizing about all teachers and schools.

Flatwhite32 · 28/04/2020 09:06

OP, it might be that the teacher is in school once a fortnight on a rota, then WFH the rest of the time. We are on a rota at my school to allow for social distancing. I have been at school on this rota looking after key worker children, and on my working days (I'm part time) I'm expected to work from home. I'm trying to do this as much as I can, but it can be challenging with 21 month old DD, so I often try and work in the evenings and at weekends. Teachers from my school have phoned every single family in the last week (that's hundreds of families) to see how parents, carers and children are getting on, and we are providing support to struggling families. We are also contributing daily to online groups for each year group, and we are preparing work (differentiated 3 ways) which is sent home every week. Your view that teachers aren't working is very, very misguided.

GoFiguire · 28/04/2020 09:09

Awaits TAAT deletion message Grin

ghostyslovesheets · 28/04/2020 09:21

Op you keep starting TATs they will keep being deleted

WhyCantIThinkOfAGoodOne · 28/04/2020 09:23

I do think it depends how your thread was worded. If your school isn't providing any learning then that's worrying and I think it's fine to write a post questioning it.

bettybattenburg · 28/04/2020 09:33

Teachers may not be in school much, but they are working from home like many people

There are also teachers who are in school every week for several days.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 28/04/2020 09:53

I don’t understand why a positive thread would be deleted

Why did they say it was deleted, was it your phrasing do you think or the replies

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 28/04/2020 09:54

I can’t think how a nhs supporting thread could be phrased badly though

Have you asked MNHQ, they do seem to tell some people what went wrong

Jammydodger1981 · 28/04/2020 10:08

Rufus - I’m paraphrasing massively but basically it was OP moaning that her teacher slating thread had been deleted but NHS slating posts were allowed to stand and that this was unfair. So a taat and pretty much like this one!

saraclara · 28/04/2020 10:11

Yep @bettybattenburg, my daughter is on the rota and in school all week this week. I was just trying to keep the wording simple for the OP.

noblegiraffe · 28/04/2020 10:32

I can’t think how a nhs supporting thread could be phrased badly though

It was a moaning about MN thread.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 28/04/2020 11:10

Thank you jammy and noble

I understand now

Would certainly struggle to rephrase that one!

Dyrne · 28/04/2020 11:12

So not a thread “defending the NHS” but a TAAT. There’s your answer then OP. Just as this one will be deleted for being a TAAT(AAT?)

LagunaBubbles · 28/04/2020 11:13

What did MN say about why they were deleting your NHS supporting thread!

Thighmageddon · 28/04/2020 11:19

I think when we discuss the nhs on threads, we shouldn't be made to feel like awful people because we are not of the opinion that the nhs is a deity and we should be grateful.

The nhs has failed many people and should be open to criticism. So the threads that are perceived is slating should remain and not be deleted.
