Have 4 month DD in my room and DH moved to the spare bed indefinitely. His choice but I encouraged. Been about 6 weeks so far and no talk from either of us of it changing. Is it very unusual or more common than I've been led to believe?

DH slept in the spare room every working day for DS's first 4 months. I moved DS out of the room at 4 months because I couldn't cope with sharing a room with him anymore (he sounded like a wild boar as he slept, and we reckon my snoring kept on waking him). So DH has been back in our bed ever since.

Just do what you need to do.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 25/04/2020 21:52

My husband. Our children have only ever slept in our bed a handful of times and we never co-slept. Occasionally his snoring annoys me so much that I try to sleep on the settee but I struggle with it and wake up aching.

blueangel1 · 25/04/2020 21:52

I usually share the bed with DH and a large cat. Sometimes there are two large cats.

Sandsnake · 25/04/2020 21:54

DH on one side and DD, 11 weeks, on the other. It’s ok though, as she has a Snuzpod on her side so can’t fall out of bed. I’d hate to be apart from DH sleeping wise, but I know others don’t mind. It’s a personal thing!

moobar · 25/04/2020 21:59

Dd is 18 months

For first four months I slept on the sofa (or didn't) in the kitchen with her in the crib or her feeding.

For the next 12 dh slept in the spare room and us in our room.

Since January dh has been back in bed and Dd in cot in her room.

GoldenHoops · 25/04/2020 22:00

Just me. I moved into the spare room around this time last year. If one of the children need comfort they come into my bed.

Iooselipssinkships · 25/04/2020 22:05

Next to DH (well supposed to be H in August) and I know it's vomit inducing and pathetic but I can't sleep without him. If he's away I also need the landing light left on ffs.
We've two kids who love their sleep, my 8 year old will take himself to bed without prompting if he's tired, so not needed to share with them. As babies, moses basket and then a cot etc.
We do sometimes have sleepovers where we blow up the air bed and all sleep in one room after watching films and eating crap. Sounds daft but when I suggest it they get dead excited. Maybe we're all just massive weirdos.

FedUpWithItAllWeep · 25/04/2020 22:10

Our bed currently goes DH, 1yo, me, 4yo Blush

Can't wait for it to be just me and DH again!

Doilooklikeatourist · 25/04/2020 22:16

Sleep next to DH , however , when the dc were small , I slept next to them , sometimes they were in the middle , some of the time DH worked away , so I had the bed with both of them with me , when he was home we all slept in the same room , it was a bit cramped 😀
They’re both grown up and gone , it’s been a long time
Where do you think most babies sleep ? In all history , babies and toddlers have slept with their mothers , not in separate rooms

DS (3). DH snores way toooo much so he's in spare room

PennyArrowBar · 25/04/2020 22:31

DS, who is 3. So I get tiny man farts, chunnering about Blippi in his sleep and boots to the face.

As opposed to DH (41) who does huge man farts, flails, equal chunnering (but not about Blippi) and thumps me in the spine.

It's basically a no win.

emelsie · 25/04/2020 22:33

Me , OH and our 18 month old.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 25/04/2020 22:33

When I get some sleep (one DC with ASD) I sleep next to DH, we never co-sleep unless DC are unwell. However I really do love it when DC join us in the morning for snuggles. Does not happen often but when it does I really cherish the time.

LightenUpSummer · 25/04/2020 22:35

On my own. I can't fall asleep if there's anyone else there, even in a different bed in the same room (sadly).

If I get a new partner he's going to have to be happy to go home overnight, and I'd need my own room if I ever live with someone again.

I've tried and tried but that seems to be the way I am.

missyB1 · 25/04/2020 22:37

Dh and the dog. We never co slept with ds unless he was ill.

moveandmove · 25/04/2020 22:38

My dp. I have a 10 year old but he's never even spent one night in my bed. He slept in my room in his noses basket for the first 6 months but I always slept next to (then) dp.

banana64 · 25/04/2020 22:38

My husband. The best part of my day is getting into bed with him. We had babies and smallies in and out over the years but thats done now. I love getting into bed with him.

Neighneigh · 25/04/2020 22:41

My 3.5yo mostly comes in my bed by 11pm (am just waiting for him), dh has been in the spare room since day 1. He came back briefly but was too annoying. I do wonder if it isn't the right thing for my and dhs relationship but frankly I want to sleep and ds is cuter. I'm actually glad to read this thread and know I'm not the only one

Mirada · 25/04/2020 22:47

No-one. Want for little in life....but haven't sleep next to anyone for years, often think, would be nice....but don't expect I will again (I'm 70 now).....and perhaps a third (?) of the adult population sleep alone.

Gooseygoosey12345 · 25/04/2020 22:48

No one until the early hours when DS rolls across from his single next to my bed. DH slept in another room when DS went through a period of night waking as he used to be up in the early hours for work (including driving) and I didn't want him to be drowsy when he needed to concentrate! Although DH does snore like a jackhammer so I doubt we'll share a bed again! We're both happy with it though, we both get sleep. Sometimes he'll come and lay in bed with me for an hour then go back when he's tired. Works for us

LightenUpSummer · 25/04/2020 22:48

Neighneigh imo you're right to think about it being a potential issue. Hopefully it won't be but for me I'd say it definitely contributed to the growing distance between xh and I Sad Don't want to worry you though!

MinnieMountain · 25/04/2020 22:48

I fall asleep next to DH but most nights 6 yo DS calls to him for a cuddle around 2am. DS has a double bed, so DH gets in with him.

I rather like having the bed (mainly) to myself.

Thehop · 25/04/2020 22:49

I’d have slept in the dogs bed if it got me a night of sleep. Do what you need to do.

Now share a bed with dh but 3 year old comes in anytime from 2 am.

Ineedabreak19 · 25/04/2020 22:50

Dd & Dcat. Dh falls asleep usually in front of the TV downstairs or in his study.
