to want to have the amenities of a town I can walk to but live somewhere without noisy people

Just that really.

I don't want to live in the middle of nowhere, but I get annoyed with being able to hear noisey people in my lounge. People working on their cars, playing music, workshops in a guarage I find quite annoying.

Great! Good luck with that

So you want a medium village close to a town or city.
I live in one. Where I live you would still hear people living their daily lives but there’s no traffic or pedestrian noise. Further up the village you probably wouldn’t hear anything except farm noise.

They aren’t difficult to find so I suggest you get on right move

I live in a small village with just one shop and can still hear everything you have mentioned. You would need to live in a hamlet or an isolated property on the edge of a town.

I live in a generally quiet, rural village. But now we have new neighbours with a dog that barks all fucking day. And whines all day when the owner is out. Pisses me right off.

My friend lives in South London in a naice terraced street and because the majority of the families are young professionals, they don't have dogs (as they're out all day). They also don't have big gardens, so no constant power tool noises/lawn mowers etc.

So in many ways, her environment is quieter than mine.

safariboot · 25/04/2020 12:53

Do you also want to have your cake and eat it too?

LimitIsUp · 25/04/2020 12:55

I live on a quiet rural road. I can still hear my immediate neighbour and vice versa, but yes I guess there is less intrusive noise

Handiies · 25/04/2020 12:55

I found the same in London, it was way quieter no matter where I lived.

Here people have a bit more space and make a lot more noise.

Realistically I just want neighbours that don't play music in the garden or have a workshop next to my lounge. But so tricky to know what a neighbor will be like

YABU in the sense that a lot of people seem to be noisy inconsiderate cunts so expecting quiet is BU but it would be lovely if people would fucking shut up a bit.
