Very unimportant but we have a holiday to Europe booked for end of July. I assume this is v unlikely. What do you think the chances are for getting away elsewhere in the Uk? Scotland/ Wales etc? Worth booking or not?

Not a chance I'd say

indemMUND · 24/04/2020 23:08

Not. Why throw money at a situation that won't change for the foreseeable? You'd be lucky to get it back.

Blackdog19 · 24/04/2020 23:10

Yes, that’s what I’m thinking. Completely unreasonable to ask given what’s going on but I kind holidays. Thank you for replying

Don’t book anything right now, wait until lockdown is over at the very very earliest.

Fluffybutter · 24/04/2020 23:11

I am more hopeful than a lot of people I know but I wouldn’t be booking anything for this year

Hanfulofdust · 24/04/2020 23:13

I think the chances are fairly slim for this summer. Not impossible, but I definitely wouldn't be booking anywhere personally.

PlanDeRaccordement · 24/04/2020 23:13

I have holiday booked in Italy for July. I booked it last October. I am just waiting to see what happens. I would not book anything new now though. Because I booked so long ago, if Covid prevents us going we will get a full refund. But if you book now, with Covid a known risk, you probably could not get a refund if you end up not being able to go.

fedupwiththisshitnow · 24/04/2020 23:18

Personally I really hope that people don't come flooding up to Scotland from the rUK for their summer holidays this year.

Ketchupqueen1 · 24/04/2020 23:23

Fed up- I think that’s why they won’t be happening. Can you imagine the influx of people to tourist areas in the uk if they can’t go abroad.

bridgetreilly · 24/04/2020 23:25

I have a holiday booked in July in Devon that I really, really, really want to go on, but I'm not hopeful.

It's the sun so unreliable

Fluffybutter · 24/04/2020 23:27

@fedupwiththisshitnow
I think you’ll be ok ..

SunsetYorks · 24/04/2020 23:31

I hope people won’t be travelling to Scotland too in July. It’s far too soon.

TheFredericaQuartet · 24/04/2020 23:33

Do people really think the UK economy can survive a lockdown of the domestic tourist industry over the summer?

Fluffybutter · 24/04/2020 23:33

Well I hope people won’t be travelling down south.. Confused

fedupwiththisshitnow · 24/04/2020 23:36

@Fluffybutter yes hopefully people won't be travelling anywhere. Op mentioned Scotland, I'm scottish so personally hope people won't be travelling here.
If someone was welsh they might say the same thing...
etc etc

Fluffybutter · 24/04/2020 23:39

Ok , I was thinking that was oddly specific , must have missed the Scottish part .
I have a holiday abroad booked for August , booked it last April, I’m resigned to the fact it’s now gone but wouldn’t book anything for this year right now

amusedbush · 24/04/2020 23:42

We were supposed to be going down to London for a few days next month but it has been cancelled, obviously (flying down on my 30th birthday, so a double kick in the nuts Hmm). We are hoping to reschedule for October when DH next has some time off but I’m not even sure that will be feasible.

Mulhollandmagoo · 25/04/2020 00:07

I wouldn't book anything, I have a trip booked with a few friends for November and to be fair we aren't sure if we'll be going or not, nobody knows what the outcome will be and how long things will take to get back to normal after all this, and you may not get any money back
