To think Gary Barlow can’t sing

Gary’s ok. Now, Chris Martin on the other hand, I think he always sounds horrific.

His voice isn’t great, but then Kylie sounds like a strangulated chipmunk and Katie Perry hasn’t a single note in her head and it hasn’t done them a whit of harm.

He’s a tax dodger. It’s very wrong for him to be praising the NHS when he tries his hardest not to contribute to it.

I think he sings well and in tune. Am not particularly a fan but each to their own.

Cheryl cole/ tweedy whatever definitely can't sing.........

I was very impressed with the Peter Andre duet though, that was fab!

I thought he was the only one in Take That who could sing.

But I haven’t seen any of his SM sessions.

I think he’s very talented musically, can sing in tune and although his voice isn’t one of my favourites it’s not bad by any means each to their own!
In terms of apparent personality I prefer how he is to someone fake I suppose he seems to be very much what you see is what you get

He’s mediocre but as an all round musician has far more talent than the rest of TT put together several times over.

I think he can sing the songs he’s written for himself but then when he attempts other things it often doesn’t sound great 😬 Agreed that most of his guests on the crooner sessions sound much better than him! I wondered whether the key suits them and not him seen as they’re his guests?!

I said exactly that to DH last night. He’s written some good songs, but his singing isn’t good...especially when beside someone like Alfie Boe. Robbie sounded effortless next to him too lol.
It’s like Michael Bublé...I’ve always thought him a terrible singer. Then he did a “duet” of Fever with Elvis, and there was just no comparison at all. Bublé sounded rough as a badgers arse.

I'm a huge fan of Gary Barlow but some of the crooner sessions (a lot of them actually) have clearly not suited his voice. I imagine they are more suited to his 'guest'
When he sings his own songs that he has written and pitched to his voice he is note perfect.
Oh, and as somebody said further up.the thread, I wish he'd stay back from the camera- it's not a good look!

OMG Robbie never sounds effortless compared to anyone, even GB. Robbie is an amazing entertainer, not a singer, I met him (long story) and he sang with no music to everyone, he's definitely nothing special. Recorded he is good. His personality is why he did so well as a solo artist, there are lots of amazing singers out there but to be a good pop solo artist you need so much more, Robbie has that in abundance whereas Gary didn't, Gary knew he was a good writer and better singer than Robbie and just assumed he would do better than him I think. Nothing to do with singing ability.

Someone mentioned Kylie earlier, she can sing in tune (just) but is awful live compared to most singers, she sounds great recorded and has something special as a performer. That is enough these days.

Weirdly Gary at his solo gigs has a lot more personality than expected, I am a big TT fan but always liked Robbie and Mark the most as a teen. Someone bought me a ticket for GB solo tour and I was not really looking forward to it but he was actually really good and to me it proved that TT would have been nothing without him. He took the piss out of his own dancing abilities and worked really well with the audience.

Alesha Dixon was surprisingly good and Beverly Knight just wiped the floor with him. I don't think he can go up against those souls singers because he hasn't got the depth in his tone but I agree with people who say he sounds better singing his own songs.

Some people think Death metal is entertaining.

Some people find Celine Dion entertaining.
Some people like Cliff Richard.

I personally think Paul Mccartney and the Beatles wrote great songs but couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket.

Like I said, it’s subjective.
Yabu to expect everyone to like what you like.

Totally agree about Robbie, I really dislike his voice.

I've just come across The Crooner Sessions and am loving them! Some of the singer's are amazing - Bradley Walsh, Foreigner, Kenny Thomas all fantastic. Not sure what happened to Rick Astley - he was totally out of breath and Gary kept taking over! Gary sings some of the songs really well and others seem off key. Either way I'm totally addicted and think it's a great watch!
