Take that were ok as a boy and Gary wrote some good songs but his voice isn't great.
He still sings better than me though!

I’ve only heard him that time he sang a duet with Cheryl Cole at the Queen’s jubilee. I thought he sounded good but maybe that was just in comparison to her!

His songs are catchy and well written but his had his day lately regards to the actual singing. He was ok as a judge on the X factor.

When Gary B sang with Ronan Keating, my OH said, dear god have we not suffered enough! sums them up in our house.

The thing about Take That concerts is that I had no idea how much the band are carried by the backing band and backing singers. I sat in on a session they did for Ken Bruce at the Radio Theatre at Broadcasting House a few years back (pre-Jason leaving) and was really surprised at how much all the backing band (not just singers) actually sang. Just hides the fact that they are pretty mediocre on their own.

He obviously CAN sing, however I strongly agree that he sounds terrible in some of these 'crooner' sessions. Also, he spells cringe wrong.

There's no doubt he can sing. Live he sings really well. His songs aren't easy to sing either which probably means he's better than people realise.

No he's not the best singer in the world but he doesnt say he is either.

I find it odd when people say x and x can't sing. A lot of them can clearly can hold a tune, they may not be a Whitney or Christina but that doesnt make them bad.

I do think there are a lot of 'pop' singers who cant actually hold a tune but they are mainly just recording artists. I work with a recording studio and there are some people who have amazing sounding voices recorded but cannot sing live at all, then amazing live singers who sound dull recorded.

People like Ed Sheeran may not be everybody's cup of tea but he can definitely sing live, hes a good musician regardless of whether it is to your taste. Same with Gary Barlow.

I think he can sing but he's not a great singer. Other pop singers like Robbie and Olly are weaker but get by because of their personalities. One person who think really can sing live is Will Young. His live radio sessions are always superb plus he has great tone and range to his voice.

He flopped as a solo artist for a reason. He’s shit on his own.

Pink has a hell of a voice. Saw her live last year and it was amazing.

I think Ellie Goulding is a great singer though which I know is an unpopular opinion. But hey, you like what you like and people's opinions and tastes are different.

He has been diabolical on the crooner sessions. Starts so high he has nowhere to go and then screeches his way through. Bad for the ears.

There's something disingenuous about him. Not sure what. He could be in the closet? Or hiding worse tax dealings. Definitely secretive.

Not a good singer no, but made a solid fortune as a song writer.

I love his voice - the tone is superb imo.

I know this is petty but I hate the way he leans into the camera when he sings in the crooner sessions. Everyone else stays where they are and he keeps leaning forward everytime he opens his mouth. You can literally see up his nose 🙄
