Am I being too impatient- coronavirus testing

This week, my DS has developed a cough and, as I’m a key worker, he can be tested for coronavirus.
I applied for a code on the government website and it said it would send a text with a code so that I could book an appointment within a few moments or maybe longer if it’s busy.
This was at 6.30am and I still haven’t received a text. AIBU to ask if anybody has tried this and received a text or if I need to be more patient!!

Haven't they literally just got this up and running? It's been 2 hrs! Yes, I'd say you need to wait a bit

Wow calm down.

A service like this takes time and infrastructure. The government are having to react very quickly. Give it time.

Two hours is quite a few moments, hopefully it will be soon.

Merrymumoftwo · 24/04/2020 08:56

I think it depends what hours they are working, it’s not really clear. I would think they have been overwhelmed with applications on opening this morning so unable to respond as quickly as they liked. My employer had this running a for just over a week it was between 4-6 hours for a reply

Thanks for your replies- you’re right, I need to wait and see- I’m not a naturally patient person!! 😂
I’m guessing the code is computer generated though so not dependent on people working

I thought they were only testing adults.
