This isn’t a “am a allowed” but more - what you do? Dh and I bought a sports type car with a soft top in February
So my question it’s a convertible and while I know in theory I wouldn’t. Be breaking rules to habe the too down - fear that if I do - I will end up on a local Facebook page or similar
So aibu to put the top down

For what purpose?

Fine if you're going to work, your trip to the supermarket

Not so fine if you're driving aimlessly around ...

Always put the top down Grin I did unless it was snowing (and once in the snow too although that was a bad idea, as it turned out!)

I miss my little convertible more than I can tell you, she'd have brought me so much joy on my essential trips during this. Sod what anyone else thinks and enjoy it!

Carolduckingbaskin · 24/04/2020 01:16

@LaurieFairyCake to do shopping etc - not just for a drive . Just fear I’ll end up on a Facebook named and shamed page

I know someone who has the top down on his convertible unless it's raining. He'll leave it down for a drizzle though.

I'd rather die than have a convertible, my car mints might fly away.

PawPawNoodle · 24/04/2020 01:21

I also missed the point entirely - it's fine, people are more likely to think you're a knob simply for putting the top down for a short journey rather than because of CV.

If you a convertible I strongly believe you should have it down unless it’s raining/snowing etc, I do- otherwise what’s the point 😀

Think of it as a really fast bike, with four wheels.
DH is driving my convertible today, fresh air plus shopping nailed in one trip.
