To think BA make finding out about cancellation fees v v hard!

So at the time of booking (online) it transpires we should have screenshot the cancellation fees for our package holiday. Having not done that, there is NO way or place to find these online, except by calling the BA contact centre. Who obviously cannot now be reached for love nor money.

Am now v v stressed as no idea what the cancellation terms were for our package holiday with BA. I had thought it would "just" be a case of losing our (still considerable) deposit. But now I fear if we miss a particular secret deadline, they will take more off the card we paid the deposit on too??

Does anybody have experience of BA cancellation fees for package holidays and how they work? Holiday is in Aug by the way but unlikely to be happening now and so much more than we can easily afford that I really don't want to pay it all and have to fight for it back....losing just the deposit would be bad enough.

TIA.

Try scrolling down to the PS at the bottom of the page for instructions on how to cancel a paid for flight (as opposed to an Avios one) . Before you get to the last step the website will tell you how much you can expect.

@BendyBusBuggy that link isn't working? It's not a flight though, it's a package holiday - and we've only paid the deposit so far, not the full amount?

We have a holiday in June and I honestly would wait until they extend the travel window past 31st May (which they will do). Once they have extended that, you will be able to apply for a voucher covering the cost of your deposit, provided the window covers your departure date. If you cancel now, you will loose your deposit as the 'cancellation fee'. They won't take more off the card without you're knowledge, you have to go in to Manage my Booking and pay more of the balance owed manually. If you didn't you'd loose the holiday IYSWIM.

Look at your holiday confirmation email.

TheOtherSideOfTheMountain · 23/04/2020 12:54

@AlwaysCheddar it just says that cancellation fees were shown online at time of booking, if not printed then we should contact BA to find them. But we can't contact BA!

@EverythingWillBeWorthIt yes this is DHs view too - I'm just worried that maybe the longer we wait the more we forfeit if we cancel, as we don't have insurance. So do you think as we'd only paid deposit, if we wait until July when full balance is due, we could cancel and get a voucher for just the deposit amount if the advice gets extended?

The cancellation fee is the deposit for a package holiday - there are no other fees until you have paid the balance in full and then want to cancel it, which is what the table shows at the time of booking

CarolineIngalls · 23/04/2020 12:58

My flight was cancelled, and they promised me a voucher within 7 days, 23 days ago.

Nothing

We’ve got a package holiday booked for October. When this all kicked off I looked at the T&Cs and it stayed that we would lose our deposit if we didn’t pay the balance by September. They won’t take anymore money.

EveryThingWillBeWorthIt · 23/04/2020 13:02

@TheOtherSideOfTheMountain - You won't forfeit more if you don't pay any more. Just hold out until you balance is due (they have moved this to 3 weeks before departure now, although your manage my booking doesn't show the new date). We have no insurance either as would have brought it once the balance was paid to protect the money.

They will extend the date from 31st May, no one will be travelling and if they don't you will have to make a call whether to pay the balance and hope the flight is cancelled (in which case you can get a full refund) or get on the flight if it departs.

Here's the link with all the info, but unfortunately both you and I and I suspect many other people travelling with BA and other airlines are in the same boat until the airline moves the travel window.

Thank you so much @EveryThingWillBeAllRight you've managed to answer all my questions! Even though it's obviously not ok, I feel much better at least knowing what the situation is. Thank you and I hope you manage to get your money back...if you can't have your holiday, obviously.

@TheOtherSideOfTheMountain - Absolutely no problem, I have been going crazy about it myself and have done an unbelievable about of research in to it (most of all because I am desperate to go on this holiday as it as a very special one!). If you have any more question just DM me Smile.

I've just looked at my booking and the t&c's are at the bottom of the e-ticket email.

EveryThingWillBeWorthIt · 28/04/2020 10:24

@TheOtherSideOfTheMountain BA have updated they travel information this morning and moved the date to 31st July. I am not sure what date your departure was, but if after, keep an eye on it.
