To think “fuck it” to home schooling after this?

So we do ds2’s, year 7, maths homeschooling, ds2 is quite able, so he gets most of the questions right ( they mark themselves) but we had some stress trying to get a couple of questions to match the answers provided by the teacher as one answer was blatantly wrong and another question we aren’t sure about either because it was stuff he said he hadn’t covered yet. Even so, he gave it a go but couldnt match the answer given. Turns out that answer given by the teacher was wrong and ds2 actually been right all along.

Other maths questions are apparently a recap on work already done before lockdown but ds2 claims “but we havent’t done this”, me being a maths bod try to explain it to him, much frustration on both sides as unknown to me at the time some of it’s a totally new concept for him.

Later (ie after the work was due in) we get an email from teacher, admitting errors in answers, and explaining later questions are actually year8 stuff that they haven’t covered yet in year7 and with explanations how to do it.

Wtf, if they are giving questions from year8 to year7 students, how about a bit of warning beforehand before parents get superstressed. Maths is my thing anyway so trying to explain concepts you think your child should already know (Because the teachers say it’s a feckin recap)is doable, but not everyone is a maths bod. Some parents might ace the english or art homework instead, mine don’t stand a chance 😂

Lots of unnecessary stress and upset could’ve been avoided for everyone.

Honestly @Bubblebu I am worried about your blood pressure and stress levels.

Justgivemewine · 24/04/2020 11:48

Please just give it a rest now and move on, I have and I started the bloody thread. It was never even meant to be about the teachers, just my inability to cope with a bit of stress!

StaffAssociationRepresentative

yes

and all the press published stuff about kids falling behind in school work and not being able to take exams and parenets being shit etc etc

and the NHS decidibng who and who they will NOT be treating

So glad you are on the other side of that blood pressure equation.

Good for you that you can be nasty about my child behind closed doors in the staffroom and nothing gets to you.

@bubblebu it sounds like you think your child is thick and are thus putting words in teachers mouths ie projecting what others MUST be saying. If you are not on the wind up then calm down. Are sure your kids are perfectly average and get no more mention than any other in the staff room unless they are disruptive and then of course they deserve a mention.

Bubblebu · 24/04/2020 12:30

thewinkingprawn

thanks for your wisedom.

Since your post I have indeed concluded that both of my children are really really stupid and in alignment with their teachers and your post I will of course be telling them that.

Please do report your post back to the staff room.

Fucking hell, Bubblebu, those are some serious daddy issues you've got going on there.

You need help.

Don't worry. Everyone who's followed the thread knows you had a rubbish moment and have been totally reasonable.

Good for you that you can be nasty about my child behind closed doors in the staffroom and nothing gets to you.
Projection or on the wind up, I'm not sure.

You seem remarkably certain that teachers call you and your intelligent and well behaved by cheeky children stupid and call your children little shits whilst smirking.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you honestly take the most mundane home-school interactions as evidence staff think your children are thick and little shits then home educating might be the way forward. You're going to be in for at least another 5-10 years of paranoia otherwise.

I'll also report your thread for you as you said ages ago you wanted it deleting due to the goady follow ups from people.

Justgivemewine · 24/04/2020 21:31

Thanks Lolasmiles. I’ve already asked twice but they say No ☹️
