To want ordinary Maltesers, not truffles or buttons or any other inferior product.

Yes - the very definition of a First World problem - but what has happened to ordinary Maltesers? I want to buy some for ds3’s birthday - he’d like a Nutella cheesecake on a malteser base - plus I really like maltesers - but it seems to be impossible to buy them in anything bigger than a tiny pack - unless you want to pay £15 for 620g of them on Amazon.

You used to be able to get sharing bags of them, or 100g boxes - or the 310g boxes for under a fiver - but now all you can get in anything over a tiny bag is truffles or buttons, or lumps of chocolate with chips of malteser in them - nice enough, but not proper Maltesers.

Why are Mars doing this to me? WHYYYYYYY?

AIBUA to want proper Maltesers?

I bought a big sharing bag today in the Co-Op. I bought a regular sized box the other week in Tesco too.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 23/04/2020 00:03

Oooh - thank you, @TwoZeroTwoZero - we will look out for them.

Same! I've been looking for ages. Asda had the big share bags yesterday

GreenFairy246 · 23/04/2020 14:10

Yes - I wanted to buy some and can't find them anywhere!

Ilovesausages · 23/04/2020 14:11

Malteser base?!? What is this awesomeness?!

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 23/04/2020 14:27

I hear you!

It’s Malteasers buttons a plenty here but no ordinary ones Sad sad times indeed op.

If you find some can we get a picture of this incredible sounding cheesecake?

Serenity45 · 23/04/2020 14:37

YANBU Malteser buttons are rubbish but I can cope with a bunny if pushed

Mapril · 23/04/2020 14:40

It's because of the Mars factory fire/breakdown. They've had a nightmare this year, with that and a Revels quality incident.

Vieve1325 · 23/04/2020 14:41

But the truffles are divine!!

jamcircuit · 23/04/2020 14:52

I bought a box of Maltesers about a month ago from Asda as I was going to the theatre and obviously it's the law. They were delicious and I was going to conduct an experiment to see if they were different from bag ones.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 23/04/2020 15:08

I am going to be making the cheesecake up as I go - I’m thinking a base of crushed Maltesers and maybe some malted milk biscuits, with melted butter (and maybe some Maltesers spread) with a no-bake Nutella cheesecake topping that I have a recipe for.

I will try to remember to take a photo before it vanishes like snow on a sunny morning!

YANBU
It’s a first world problem, but when you want Maltesers - you want Maltesers.
I’ve been using online supermarket deliveries (and DH also tried a couple of shops) and couldn’t get them anywhere. However, I’ve noticed that now Easter is over with, they’re back in supermarkets. I assume they wanted to sell all the Easter truffle stuff first so held the Maltesers back.

ItsACounty · 23/04/2020 15:19

Just looked online. I’m in the NW and both Tesco and Asda are again stocking Maltesers boxes and bags.

Rockbird · 23/04/2020 15:22

Just looked at Tesco and they have all the Maltesers. Finally.

But, what fresh hell is this??

Places like Poundland and Home Bargains usually have boxes

Not even sure they are open though

WhoWants2Know · 23/04/2020 15:29

There are Malteaser biscuits which

a) are lush
b) might work
