Tissue paper hair dye

I've seen loads of fb posts of people dying the ends of their hair rainbow colours with tissue paper or food colouring. DD7 would love this but has very dark brown hair. AIBU to ask if anyone has succeeded with this type of temporary hair colouring on dark hair?

It’s not going to work on very dark hair. You would have to bleach it first.

It would need pre lightening

I had no idea what this even was but when I googled it some of the people in YouTube videos seemed to have dark hair. Maybe see if any of them have turned out well by fast forwarding the video through to the end once it’s loaded?

That's what I think about lightening it first. I did look at some youtube vids but could only find ones where they'd used professional dyes

Oh I used to do this when I was young!
So her hair is dark, she won’t get a vivid effect, but there will be a faint tint especially when the light catches it. Be warned it runs out again when the hair gets wet, despite this the colour vaguely stays around for a few weeks especially if it’s red.

Has anyone tried this and had trouble removing the hair dye? I did it on my daughter's hair 6 weeks ago and can't get it out. Even with head and shoulders and bicarbonate of soda it won't go. Anyone else had this problem???

My daughter has black hair so no chance but I have seen others use rainbow hair extensions the clip in ones, if that would work?? Can get them on eBay
