TV license email scam

Please be aware that there is a TV licence scam going on asking for money. I received a dodgy email a few hours ago.
Please tell your relatives.

Who voted that I was unreasonable?!?

I got a text yesterday asking me to update my payment details it looked really authentic too but my payment went out on the first same as every month so I ignored.

Same here, but it looked quite authentic. It had the proper logo with the tick, and even more scammy, used my first name.
If it were not for knowing my direct debit goes out regularly and no issues with my bank, I might Have given it credence.
I'm mentioning it to my friends and family, just in case.

I've been getting these for months

I assume the YABU votes are because there are scam emails going around 24/7, purporting to be from all sorts of places, so why make a PSA about this one.

I will say this was one of the more convincing looking ones that I've received though (until giving it a close read).

We're sneaky. We use my email / mobile and DHs name or vice versa.

So if I get a dear Mr MaleCurious, or he gets dear Mrs FemaleCurious message, we just Junk it.

It's worked well for years and is pretty easy to switch to.

I got that email the other day. I can spot a scam a mile off though and since I don't have a licence as I don't use those services it took all of 2 seconds to realise and delete. Good to bring it to people's attention though.

I voted YABU because you're asking people to send more unwanted email.
